Safety Information
WARNING: To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken when handling aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs yourself; return the appliance to an authorized service facility for service or discard the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
- To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or receptacle getting wet, position aquarium stand and tank to one side of a wall-mounted receptacle to prevent water from dripping onto the receptacle or plug.
- A "drip loop" should be arranged by the user for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to a receptacle. The "drip loop" is that part of the cord below the level of the receptacle, or the connector if an extension cord is used, to prevent water from traveling along the cord and coming into contact with the receptacle.
- Always unplug the appliance from the outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to the weather or to temperatures below freezing.
- Ensure the filter is fully submerged in water during operation to prevent damage to the motor.

Setup Instructions
- Unpack the Filter: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect the filter for any signs of damage.
- Familiarize with Components: Observe the main parts of the filter, including the filter chambers, pump, and water outlet. The XN-600 features two filter chambers for comprehensive filtration.
- Install Filter Media: Open the filter chambers and place the provided filter media (e.g., sponge, biological media) into the designated compartments. Ensure they are properly seated.
- Position the Filter: Place the filter inside your turtle tank. The filter is designed for low water levels, starting operation at just 2cm. Position it securely using the suction pads on the back and side against the aquarium glass. This design also helps prevent turtles from getting stuck behind the filter.
- Ensure Submersion: Make sure the filter's pump section is fully submerged in water before plugging it in. The strong bottom suction will begin drawing water for filtration.
- Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet. Ensure a drip loop is formed to prevent water from reaching the outlet.

Operating Instructions
- Power On: Once plugged in and submerged, the filter will automatically begin operating.
- Adjust Water Flow: Use the self-contained adjustment knob located on the front of the filter to control the water flow rate. Turn the knob clockwise to decrease flow and counter-clockwise to increase flow.
- Observe Filtration: The filter will draw water from the bottom, pass it through the multi-stage filtration media, and return clean water via the rain shower type outlet, ensuring thorough water purification.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your filter. Always unplug the filter before performing any maintenance.
- Cleaning Frequency: It is recommended to clean the filter media and pump every 2-4 weeks, depending on the bioload of your tank and water clarity.
- Disassemble the Filter: Unplug the filter from the power outlet. Carefully remove the filter from the tank. Disassemble the filter by separating the filter chambers and accessing the pump compartment.
- Clean Filter Media: Rinse the filter sponges and other media in old aquarium water (from a water change) to preserve beneficial bacteria. Do not use tap water directly as chlorine can kill beneficial bacteria. Replace filter media as needed, typically every 3-6 months for mechanical media.
- Clean the Pump: Gently remove the impeller from the pump housing. Clean the impeller and the impeller well with a small brush to remove any debris or slime buildup. The pump compartment is sealed with black silicone for waterproofing and vibration dampening.
- Reassemble and Restart: Once all parts are clean, reassemble the filter, ensuring all connections are secure. Place it back in the tank, ensure it is fully submerged, and plug it back in.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Filter not running / No water flow | Not plugged in; Power outage; Impeller jammed or dirty; Not fully submerged. | Check power connection; Restore power; Clean impeller and pump well; Ensure filter is fully submerged. |
| Reduced water flow | Clogged filter media; Dirty impeller; Air trapped in pump. | Clean or replace filter media; Clean impeller; Gently tilt filter to release trapped air. |
| Excessive noise | Impeller dirty or damaged; Air trapped in pump; Filter not stable. | Clean or replace impeller; Gently tilt filter to release trapped air; Ensure filter is securely placed on suction cups. |
| Water remains cloudy | Filter media saturated; Insufficient filtration for tank size; Overfeeding; High bioload. | Clean or replace filter media; Perform water changes; Reduce feeding; Consider additional filtration if tank is too large for filter capacity. |
