4. Setup

4.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the device. Connect the provided USB cable to the charging port on the device and to a standard USB power adapter (not included). The charging indicator on the display will show the charging status.

4.2 Power On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the power button (usually marked with a universal power symbol) until the display illuminates.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the power button until the display turns off.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Understanding the Display

The LCD display provides three main readings:

  • REAL: Displays the current, real-time radiation dose rate. This value fluctuates based on immediate detection.
  • AVG: Shows the average radiation dose rate over a period of time, providing a more stable reading.
  • MAX: Records the highest radiation dose rate detected since the last reset.

5.2 Alarm Settings

The device features a smart alarm system that can be configured for current dose and accumulated dose thresholds. When the detected radiation exceeds the set alarm value, the monitor will activate an alarm.

  • Alarm Modes: Choose from Light, Vibration, or Sound alarms, or a combination of these.
  • Setting Thresholds: Access the alarm setting option in the menu to adjust the desired current and accumulated dose alarm values.

5.3 Unit and Language Settings

The device allows customization of measurement units and display language:

  • Units: Select from available dosage units (e.g., µSv/h).
  • Language: Switch between English (default) and Chinese.
  • Refer to the on-screen menu for navigation and selection of these settings.

5.4 Working Principle

The Olmlmo GC-01 operates using a Geiger-Müller counter. This technology detects the intensity of ionizing radiation (Beta particles, Gamma rays, and X-rays) by employing a gas tube or a small chamber as a probe. When the voltage applied to the probe reaches a specific range, each time a ray ionizes in the tube, it produces a pair of ions. These ions are amplified to generate an electric pulse of uniform size, which is then recorded by the connected electronic device. The number of rays detected per unit time is thus measured and displayed.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the device regularly if stored for extended periods.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device not powering on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a power source and try again.
  • Inaccurate readings: Ensure the device is not near strong electromagnetic interference. Calibrate if a calibration option is available (refer to advanced settings if applicable).
  • Alarm not sounding: Check alarm settings to ensure sound/vibration is enabled and thresholds are set appropriately.
  • Display issues: If the display is frozen or unresponsive, try restarting the device by holding the power button.
