Assembly Instructions
The TECLUNG GTX Metal Detector is designed for tool-free assembly. Follow these steps:
- Attach the Search Coil: Secure the 8-inch search coil to the lower stem using the provided bolt and knob.
- Connect the Stems: Insert the lower stem into the middle stem, and then connect the middle stem to the upper stem (which has the control box and hand rest).
- Adjust the Stem Length: Use the lock nut on the adjustable stem to set the desired length, suitable for your height. The stem is adjustable from 30.7 inches to 42.5 inches.
- Secure the Cable: Wrap the search coil cable neatly around the stem, ensuring it is not loose or dangling, and plug it into the control box.
- Install Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the control box and insert two 9V alkaline batteries (9V 6LR61). Ensure correct polarity.

Control Panel Overview
Familiarize yourself with the control panel for efficient operation:

- Power On/Off: Use the Power button to turn the detector on or off.
- Sensitivity (SENS): Adjusts the detector's sensitivity to minimize interference from mineralized soil or electrical zones. Higher sensitivity allows detection of smaller objects or deeper targets.
- Volume (VOL): Controls the audio output level.
- ALL METAL / DISC Mode: Selects the detection mode.
- Target Indicator / View Meter: Provides visual feedback on detected targets and signal strength.
- Low Bat Indicator: Illuminates when batteries are low and need replacement.
- Headphone Jack: For connecting headphones for private listening and clearer audio signals.
Detection Modes
Your metal detector features two primary detection modes:
- ALL METAL Mode: Detects all types of metal, including gold, silver, bronze, and iron. This mode is ideal for general searching when you want to find any metallic object.
- DISC Mode (Discrimination): Allows you to ignore unwanted metal types, such as iron or trash, focusing only on specific valuable metals. Turn the DISC knob to adjust the discrimination level.

Target Indication and Sensitivity
The detector provides visual and auditory cues for detected targets:
- Target Indicator: The display shows icons representing different types of metals detected.
- Audio Tones: Different metals may produce distinct audio tones.
- Depth Indication: The display can indicate the approximate depth of the detected object.
- Sensitivity Control: Adjust the SENS knob to fine-tune the detector's responsiveness. High sensitivity is for deeper targets, while lower sensitivity helps reduce false signals in highly mineralized areas.

Search Coil Usage
The 8-inch search coil is waterproof, allowing for exploration in shallow water, beaches, or streams. However, the control box is not waterproof and must be kept dry.
Best Practices for Metal Detecting
- Swing the search coil slowly and steadily, keeping it parallel to the ground.
- Avoid testing indoors, as household electronics can cause interference.
- In highly mineralized areas, reduce sensitivity to prevent false signals.
- Always check the connection of the main controller line to ensure it is plugged in tightly.
- Use 9V alkaline batteries for optimal performance.

Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: Wipe down the search coil and stem with a damp cloth after each use. Ensure the control box remains dry.
- Storage: Store the metal detector in a dry, cool place. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
- Battery Care: Always use fresh, high-quality 9V alkaline batteries. Replace batteries when the 'Low Bat' indicator appears.
- Transport: Utilize the included carry bag for safe and convenient transport of your detector and accessories.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your TECLUNG GTX Metal Detector, refer to the following common solutions:
- Constant Sound/False Signals:
- Reduce the sensitivity setting.
- Increase the height between the search coil and the ground.
- Avoid testing indoors or in areas with high electrical interference.
- The detector is not recommended for use in highly mineralized areas with high sensitivity.
- No Detection/Weak Signal:
- Check if the connecting line of the main controller is plugged in tightly.
- Ensure batteries are fresh and correctly installed.
- Increase the sensitivity setting.
- Display Not Working:
- Check battery levels and replace if necessary.
- Ensure all connections are secure.
