1. Introduction

2. Important Safety Instructions

To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury, basic safety precautions should always be followed when using electrical appliances. These include:

• Read all instructions before operating the appliance.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.

4. Initial Setup and First Use

Before using your espresso machine for the first time, follow these steps:

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all parts are present.
2. Cleaning: Wash the water tank, portafilter, filter baskets, and drip tray with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
3. Fill Water Tank: Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water up to the MAX level. Place it back securely.
4. Prime the Machine:
   • Plug the machine into a grounded electrical outlet.
   • Turn on the machine using the power button. The indicator lights will flash.
   • Place a cup under the brew head.
   • Press the single-cup or double-cup button to run water through the system without coffee. Repeat this process 2-3 times to clean the internal components.
   • Turn the steam/water knob to the "STEAM" position and allow some steam to release from the steam wand to clear any air. Turn it back to "OFF".
5. Your machine is now ready for use.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Making Espresso

1. Preheat: Ensure the machine is preheated. The indicator lights will stop flashing and remain solid when ready.
2. Prepare Portafilter: Insert the desired filter basket (single or double shot) into the portafilter.
3. Add Coffee: Fill the filter basket with finely ground espresso coffee. Do not overfill.
4. Tamp Coffee: Use a tamper to press the coffee grounds firmly and evenly. Wipe any excess coffee from the rim.
5. Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the brew head, insert it, and twist firmly to the right until it is securely locked.
6. Place Cup(s): Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts.
7. Brew Espresso: Press the single-cup or double-cup button. The machine will automatically brew the espresso and stop when complete.
8. Remove Portafilter: Once brewing is complete, carefully twist the portafilter to the left to remove it. Dispose of the used coffee grounds.

5.2 Frothing Milk (for Cappuccinos and Lattes)

1. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (whole milk is recommended for best results) to just below the spout.
2. Activate Steam: Turn the steam/water knob to the "STEAM" position. Wait for the steam indicator light to illuminate steadily, indicating the machine is ready to produce steam.
3. Purge Steam Wand: Briefly open the steam knob to release any condensed water from the wand into an empty cup, then close it.
4. Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Slowly open the steam knob. Move the pitcher up and down gently to create foam. For latte art, aim for a creamy, velvety texture.
5. Stop Frothing: Once the desired volume and temperature are reached, close the steam knob and remove the pitcher.
6. Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly open the steam knob again to clear any milk from inside the wand.

6. Care and Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.

• Daily Cleaning:
  • Empty and rinse the drip tray after each use.
  • Remove and clean the portafilter and filter basket after each use.
  • Wipe down the steam wand immediately after frothing milk.
  • Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
• Water Tank: Clean the water tank periodically with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
• Descaling: Mineral deposits can build up over time, affecting machine performance. Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
  1. Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions (or use a mixture of white vinegar and water).
  2. Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
  3. Place a large container under the brew head and steam wand.
  4. Run half of the solution through the brew head by pressing the espresso button.
  5. Run the remaining half through the steam wand by turning the steam knob.
  6. Rinse the machine by filling the water tank with fresh water and running it through both the brew head and steam wand twice.
