- Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust.
- Ensure good footing and balance at all times.
2.3 Tool Use and Care
- Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application.

4. Setup and Assembly
4.1 Battery Installation
- Ensure the saw is turned off and the chain is stationary.
- Align the 18V POWER FOR ALL battery (sold separately) with the battery compartment on the tool.
- Slide the battery into the compartment until it clicks securely into place.
4.2 Chain and Guide Bar Assembly (SDS System)
The Bosch EasyChain 18V-15-7 features an SDS System for tool-free chain and guide bar assembly and tensioning.
- Ensure the battery is removed from the tool.
- Open the chain guard.
- Place the saw chain around the guide bar, ensuring the cutting teeth are facing the correct direction (refer to markings on the chain and guide bar).
- Align the guide bar and chain with the sprocket and mounting points on the saw body.
- Close the chain guard.
- Use the red SDS tensioning knob to adjust the chain tension. Turn clockwise to tighten and counter-clockwise to loosen. The chain should be snug but still able to be pulled freely around the guide bar by hand.

4.3 Chain Lubrication
The EasyChain 18V-15-7 requires manual chain lubrication. A 50ml oil bottle is included for this purpose.
- Before each use, apply a small amount of chain oil directly onto the chain and guide bar.
- Distribute the oil evenly by rotating the chain manually.
- Regular lubrication is crucial for optimal performance and chain longevity.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting and Stopping
- To start the saw, press the safety lock-off button (if present) and then squeeze the trigger switch.
- To stop the saw, release the trigger switch. The chain will stop quickly.
5.2 Cutting Techniques
- General Cutting: Hold the saw firmly with both hands (if applicable for the task) or one hand if the design allows for safe single-handed operation for light tasks. Ensure a stable stance.
- Pruning Branches: For smaller branches (up to 13 cm diameter), position the saw firmly against the branch before engaging the trigger. Allow the saw to cut through the wood without forcing it.
- Avoid Kickback: Be aware of the kickback danger zone (the tip of the guide bar). Avoid contact with the tip of the guide bar to prevent sudden upward and backward movement of the saw.
- Cutting Larger Pieces: For larger pieces of wood within the saw's capacity, ensure the wood is stable and supported. Make relief cuts if necessary to prevent pinching the guide bar.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your pruner saw.
6.1 Cleaning
- After each use, remove the battery and clean the saw thoroughly.
- Use a brush or compressed air to remove sawdust, chips, and debris from the chain, guide bar, and motor housing.
- Wipe down external surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
6.2 Chain and Guide Bar Care
- Chain Tension: Periodically check and adjust chain tension using the SDS system. A properly tensioned chain should not sag but should still be able to be pulled freely around the guide bar.
- Chain Lubrication: As mentioned in Section 4.3, manually lubricate the chain before and during extended use.
- Chain Sharpening/Replacement: A dull chain will cut slowly and inefficiently. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when necessary. Refer to Bosch's official guidelines or a qualified service center for proper sharpening techniques or replacement parts.
- Guide Bar Maintenance: Clean the guide bar groove regularly to remove accumulated debris. Flip the guide bar periodically to ensure even wear.
6.3 Storage
- Store the saw in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.
- Always remove the battery before storing the tool for extended periods.
- Use the guide bar scabbard (included) to protect the chain and guide bar during storage and transport.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your pruner saw.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Saw does not start | Battery not inserted correctly or discharged | Ensure battery is fully seated. Charge battery if necessary. |
| Chain does not move or moves slowly | Chain too tight, dull, or obstructed | Adjust chain tension. Sharpen or replace chain. Clear any obstructions. |
| Poor cutting performance | Dull chain, insufficient lubrication, or incorrect cutting technique | Sharpen or replace chain. Manually lubricate chain. Review operating instructions. |
| Excessive vibration | Loose chain, damaged chain/guide bar, or internal issue | Check and adjust chain tension. Inspect chain and guide bar for damage. If problem persists, contact Bosch service. |
