5. Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure the power supply is turned off at the circuit breaker. This fixture is designed for surface mounting on ceilings or walls.

5.1. Mounting the Fixture

  1. Prepare the Mounting Surface: Choose a suitable location for the fixture. Mark the drilling points for the mounting brackets using the fixture as a guide.
  2. Install Mounting Brackets: Drill pilot holes at the marked locations. Insert the plastic wall plugs (if needed for drywall/masonry) and secure the mounting brackets to the surface using the provided screws. Ensure the brackets are firmly attached.
  3. Secure the Fixture: Carefully align the fixture with the installed mounting brackets and secure it in place. The fixture can be clipped into the brackets.

6. Operation and Settings

The DAKASON LED Vapor Tight Light features adjustable wattage and intelligent sensor controls. These settings are configured using dip switches located inside the fixture.

6.1. Wattage Adjustment

The fixture allows you to select between three wattage outputs: 40W, 50W, and 60W. This adjusts the light output (lumens) accordingly.

To adjust the wattage, locate the wattage selection switch inside the fixture and set it to your desired output. Ensure power is disconnected before making adjustments.

6.2. Motion Sensor Settings

The integrated motion sensor allows for automatic lighting control based on presence. Settings are configured via dip switches.

Refer to the diagram on the fixture's sensor module for specific dip switch positions. Key settings include:

Example of Motion Sensor Logic:

6.3. Daylight Sensor (Photocell)

The daylight sensor (photocell) automatically controls the light based on ambient light levels, saving energy during daylight hours.

7. Maintenance

The DAKASON LED Vapor Tight Light is designed for minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks can ensure optimal performance and longevity.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DAKASON LED Vapor Tight Light, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Light does not turn on. No power supply; incorrect wiring; sensor disabled or misconfigured; ambient light too high. Check circuit breaker and wiring connections. Verify sensor settings (Daylight Sensor, Sensor Mode). Ensure ambient light is below 50 Lux if Daylight Sensor is enabled.
Light stays on continuously or for too long. Motion sensor Hold Time or Stand-by Period set too long or to infinite (+∞); constant motion in detection area; sensor malfunction. Adjust Hold Time and Stand-by Period dip switches. Ensure no continuous motion is triggering the sensor. If issue persists, contact support.
Light turns on/off too frequently or is too sensitive. Motion sensor sensitivity set too high; environmental factors (e.g., small animals, moving objects, vibrations). Reduce the Detection Sensitivity setting on the dip switch. Consider the mounting location to minimize false triggers.
Light flickers. Incompatible dimmer switch (this fixture is not designed for external dimmers); power supply instability; rare individual sensitivity to LED refresh rates. Ensure no external dimmer switches are used. Check power supply stability. While most users do not perceive flicker, some individuals may be more sensitive to the inherent refresh rate of LED lighting.
Light is not bright enough. Wattage setting is too low; Stand-by Dimming Level is active. Adjust the wattage selection switch to a higher setting (e.g., 60W). Check motion sensor settings to ensure the light is not in a dimmed stand-by state.
