5. Setup

5.1 Power Connection

  1. Insert the small end of the AC/DC power adapter into the AC Power Input jack on the back of the unit.
  2. Plug the other end of the adapter into a standard AC wall outlet (100-240V, 50/60Hz).
  3. The unit will power on, and the LED display will light up.

5.2 Battery Backup Installation

The unit uses 2 AAA batteries (not included) for memory backup. This feature preserves your time and alarm settings during a power outage.

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the unit.
  2. Insert 2 AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: Battery backup only maintains settings; the display will not illuminate, and alarms will not sound during a power outage.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Setting the Time

  1. In time display mode, press and hold the Time Set button until the hour digits flash.
  2. Use the Tuning/Volume +/- buttons to adjust the hour. Press Time Set again to confirm the hour.
  3. The minute digits will flash. Use the Tuning/Volume +/- buttons to adjust the minutes. Press Time Set again to confirm the minutes.
  4. The time is now set.

6.2 Setting the Alarm (Dual Alarm)

The unit features two independent alarms (Alarm 1 and Alarm 2).

  1. Press and hold the Alarm 1 Set button (or Alarm 2 Set button) until the alarm hour digits flash.
  2. Use the Tuning/Volume +/- buttons to adjust the alarm hour. Press the respective Alarm Set button to confirm.
  3. The alarm minute digits will flash. Use the Tuning/Volume +/- buttons to adjust the alarm minutes. Press the respective Alarm Set button to confirm.
  4. The display will show options for alarm source: BUZ (buzzer) or RAD (radio). Use Tuning/Volume +/- to select, then press the respective Alarm Set button to confirm.
  5. If RAD is selected, the display will show the last tuned radio frequency. Use Tuning/Volume +/- to select the desired alarm radio station. Press the respective Alarm Set button to confirm.
  6. The alarm is now set. An alarm icon (e.g., 'AL1' or 'AL2') will appear on the display.

Activating/Deactivating Alarms:

Press the Alarm 1 Set or Alarm 2 Set button briefly to toggle the alarm on or off. The corresponding alarm icon will appear or disappear from the display.

Stopping a sounding alarm:

When an alarm sounds, press any button except Snooze to stop it. The alarm will reset for the next day.

6.3 Radio Operation (PLL FM Radio)

  1. Press the Mode button repeatedly until 'FM' appears on the display.
  2. Automatic Scan and Preset: Press and hold the Preset/Scan button. The radio will automatically scan for and save available FM stations to presets.
  3. Manual Tuning: Briefly press the Tuning/Volume +/- buttons to fine-tune the frequency. Press and hold to auto-scan to the next strong station.
  4. Recalling Presets: Briefly press the Preset/Scan button to cycle through saved preset stations.
  5. Adjusting Volume: Use the Tuning/Volume +/- buttons when not in tuning mode to adjust the volume.

6.4 Bluetooth Streaming

  1. Press the Mode button repeatedly until 'BT' appears on the display. The unit will enter pairing mode, indicated by a flashing 'BT'.
  2. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (e.g., smartphone), enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
  3. Select 'HX-139CR' from the list of available devices.
  4. Once paired, 'BT' will stop flashing and remain solid. You can now stream audio from your device to the alarm clock radio.
  5. Control playback (play/pause, next/previous track) and volume from your connected device.

6.5 USB Charging Port

The USB port on the back of the unit provides 1A power output for charging compatible devices.

  1. Connect your smartphone, tablet, or other USB-powered device to the USB charging port using a compatible USB cable (not included).
  2. The device will begin charging.

Note: This port is for charging only and does not support data transfer or playing audio from USB drives.

6.6 Sleep Timer

The sleep timer allows you to fall asleep to the radio or Bluetooth audio, which will automatically turn off after a set period.

  1. While the radio or Bluetooth is playing, press the Snooze/Sleep/Dimmer button repeatedly to cycle through sleep timer options (e.g., 90, 60, 30, 15 minutes, OFF).
  2. The selected sleep time will appear on the display briefly. The unit will automatically turn off after the set time.

6.7 Snooze Function

When an alarm sounds, press the Snooze/Sleep/Dimmer button once to temporarily silence the alarm for 9 minutes. The alarm will sound again after the snooze period.

6.8 Display Dimmer

In time display mode, briefly press the Snooze/Sleep/Dimmer button (when no alarm is sounding or sleep timer is active) to adjust the brightness of the LED display.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

  • Always unplug the unit from the power outlet before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.

7.2 Storage

If you plan to store the unit for an extended period, unplug it from the power outlet and remove the AAA backup batteries.
