Setup

1. Unpacking and Placement

  • Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  • Place the turntable on a flat, stable surface, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive dust or vibrations.
  • Ensure there is enough space around the unit for proper ventilation.

2. Platter Installation

  • Place the solid iron platter onto the center spindle of the turntable.
  • Ensure the drive belt is correctly positioned around the motor pulley and the inner rim of the platter.

3. Tonearm and Cartridge Setup

  • The Audio-Technica AT-3600L magnetic cartridge is pre-installed.
  • Adjusting the Counterweight:
    1. Gently remove the stylus protector.
    2. Balance the tonearm by rotating the counterweight until the tonearm floats horizontally.
    3. Lock the tonearm in its rest.
    4. Rotate the tracking force ring to "0" without moving the counterweight.
    5. Rotate the counterweight and the tracking force ring together to the recommended tracking force (typically 2.5-3.5 grams for AT-3600L). Refer to the cartridge manufacturer's specifications for precise values.

4. Speaker Connection

  • Connect the included bookshelf speakers to the speaker terminals on the rear panel of the turntable. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
  • If using external active speakers or an amplifier, connect them to the RCA output jacks. Set the PHONO/LINE switch accordingly (PHONO for internal preamp, LINE for external preamp).

5. Power Connection

  • Connect the power adapter to the DC IN 12V port on the rear panel.
  • Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet.

Operating Instructions

Playing a Vinyl Record

  1. Turn on the turntable using the Power ON/OFF switch.
  2. Place a vinyl record on the platter.
  3. Select the appropriate speed (33 1/3 or 45 RPM) using the speed buttons.
  4. Ensure the Mode is set to PHONO (red LED indicator).
  5. Unlock the tonearm from its rest and gently lift it using the cueing lever.
  6. Position the stylus over the desired track on the record.
  7. Lower the tonearm slowly using the cueing lever. The stylus will make contact with the record, and playback will begin.
  8. Adjust the volume using the volume knob.
  9. At the end of the record, the turntable features an automatic stop function. The platter will stop spinning.
  10. Lift the tonearm, return it to its rest, and lock it.

Bluetooth Connectivity (Input Only)

This turntable supports Bluetooth input, allowing you to stream music wirelessly from your smartphone, tablet, or other Bluetooth-enabled devices to the turntable's speakers.

  1. Turn on the turntable.
  2. Press the Mode button until the Bluetooth indicator (blue LED) lights up. The turntable is now in Bluetooth pairing mode.
  3. On your smartphone or tablet, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  4. Select "Mersoco Turntable" (or similar name) from the list of devices to pair.
  5. Once paired, you can stream audio from your device to the turntable's speakers.
  6. Use the volume knob on the turntable and the volume controls on your device to adjust the sound level.
  7. The Play/Pause/Skip buttons on the turntable's control panel can be used to control playback of your Bluetooth device.

Note: This turntable supports Bluetooth input only. It cannot connect to external Bluetooth speakers as an output device.

USB Recording (Vinyl to MP3)

The Mersoco M486 allows you to convert your vinyl records into digital MP3 or WAV files via a USB connection to your computer.

  1. Connect the turntable to your Mac or PC using the provided USB cable. Plug one end into the USB-PC port on the turntable's rear panel and the other into an available USB port on your computer.
  2. Install appropriate audio recording software on your computer (e.g., Audacity, available for free online).
  3. Open the recording software and select the turntable as the input device (usually labeled "USB Audio CODEC" or similar).
  4. Start playback of your vinyl record on the turntable.
  5. Begin recording in your software.
  6. Once the record finishes or you wish to stop recording, stop the recording in your software.
  7. Save the recorded audio as an MP3 or WAV file on your computer.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Turntable

  • Dust Cover: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Cabinet: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the wooden cabinet. Do not use chemical cleaners that may damage the finish.
  • Stylus: Use a soft brush designed for stylus cleaning, brushing gently from back to front. Clean regularly to ensure optimal sound quality and prevent record damage.
  • Records: Keep your vinyl records clean using a record brush or cleaning solution to remove dust and static.

Stylus Replacement

The stylus (needle) is a consumable part and will wear out over time, typically after 300-500 hours of playback. A worn stylus can damage your records and degrade sound quality. Replace the stylus when you notice a decrease in sound clarity or increased distortion.
