4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The thermometer comes with one LR41 battery pre-installed. If replacement is needed, carefully remove the battery cap and insert a new LR41 battery, ensuring correct polarity.

4.2 Initial Use

Before taking a measurement, press the On/Off button. The display will briefly show the last reading, then 'Lo°F' (or 'Lo°C') indicating it is ready for measurement. Ensure the probe is clean before use.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Taking a Temperature Measurement

  1. Press the On/Off button to activate the thermometer.
  2. Wait for the display to show 'Lo°F' (or 'Lo°C') and a flashing degree symbol, indicating it is ready.
  3. Position the thermometer according to the desired measurement method (oral, rectal, or axillary).
  4. Hold the thermometer in place until you hear a series of beeps, signaling that the measurement is complete (approximately 10 seconds).
  5. Read the temperature displayed on the LCD screen.
  6. Press the On/Off button to turn off the thermometer, or it will automatically shut off after approximately 10 minutes.

5.2 Measurement Methods

  • Oral Use: Place the thermometer tip under the tongue, close the mouth, and hold it firmly. Normal oral temperature is typically 96.3°F-99.2°F (35.7-37.3°C).
  • Rectal Use (for infants/children): Lubricate the thermometer tip with a water-soluble jelly. Gently insert the tip no more than 0.5 inches into the rectum. Normal rectal temperature is typically 96.3°F-99.2°F (35.7-37.3°C).
  • Axillary Use (Underarm): Place the thermometer tip in the armpit, ensuring good skin contact. Hold the arm firmly against the body. Normal axillary temperature is typically 95.4°F-98.6°F (35.2-37.0°C).

5.3 Switching Temperature Units (°F/°C)

To switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius, ensure the thermometer is off. Press and hold the On/Off button for approximately 3-5 seconds until the unit changes on the display.
