1. Introduction
The ZIPCOM YCQ5-100 series dual power automatic transfer switches are designed for miniature household power transfer applications. This device is primarily used to monitor the status of a normal power supply and a standby power supply. In the event of an abnormality in the normal power supply, the switch automatically transfers the load to the backup power supply, ensuring continuous, reliable, and safe power delivery. This product is specifically engineered for track TV installations in homes and is suitable for Pz30 distribution boxes.
These automatic transfer switches are suitable for emergency power systems with a rated current of 100A at 400V AC, 50Hz or 60Hz. They feature a compact structure, reliable conversion mechanism, and are easy to install and maintain. The YCQ5-100 is widely utilized in applications where uninterrupted power supply is critical. Operation can be performed electrically or manually via the ATS controller.

3. Product Features
- Flame-Retardant Plastic Material: Constructed from flame-retardant plastic, ensuring good insulation, high temperature resistance, and overall safety and reliability.
- Compact Design: Small size, making it easy to handle, store, and install with good performance characteristics.
- Comprehensive Protection Functions: Supports multiple protection features including short circuit, overload, phase loss, and undervoltage protection.
- Automatic Power Transfer: When the normal power supply becomes abnormal, the backup power supply immediately activates to maintain power continuity. Upon restoration of the normal power supply, the switch automatically reverts to the normal source.
- Enhanced Conductivity: Features silver contacts for both motion and static electricity, significantly improving the product's conductivity and operational lifespan.
- Signal Output Port: Includes a built-in standing open signal output port for connection with a signal indicator.
4. Setup and Installation
Safety Warning: Installation should only be performed by qualified personnel. Ensure all power sources are disconnected before beginning installation to prevent electric shock or damage to equipment.
- Mounting: The YCQ5-100 is designed for DIN rail mounting, typically within a Pz30 distribution box. Securely attach the switch to the DIN rail.
- Wiring - Normal Power Source (Source A): Connect the normal power supply lines to the "Source A" terminals. Ensure correct phase (AL1, AL2, AL3) and neutral (N) connections.
- Wiring - Alternative Power Source (Source B): Connect the alternative (standby) power supply lines to the "Source B" terminals. Ensure correct phase (BL1, BL2, BL3) and neutral (N) connections.
- Load Connection: Connect the load circuits to the "Load side main circuit terminal" (output terminals).
- Control Power: Connect the control power as indicated on the device. The control voltage is AC230V.
- Signal Indicator (Optional): If desired, connect a signal indicator to the built-in standing open signal output port.
- Verification: Double-check all wiring connections for tightness and correctness before restoring power.

5. Operating Instructions
The ZIPCOM YCQ5-100 ATS operates primarily in an automatic mode, continuously monitoring the status of both power sources.
- Automatic Mode: In this mode, the switch automatically detects the presence and quality of the normal power supply (Source A). If Source A is stable, the load is connected to Source A.
- Automatic Transfer: If Source A fails or its parameters fall outside acceptable limits, the ATS will automatically switch the load to the alternative power supply (Source B), provided Source B is available and stable.
- Return to Normal: Once Source A is restored and stable, the ATS will automatically transfer the load back to Source A.
- Manual Operation: The device includes a manual knob (refer to Figure 4.1) that allows for manual switching between Source A and Source B. This is typically used for maintenance or testing purposes. Ensure the system is de-energized or appropriate safety precautions are taken before manual operation. The note on the device states "Manual operation must be in 'Man' position" for manual control.
- Power Indication: The "Power A indication" and "Power B indication" lights (refer to Figure 4.1) illuminate to show which power source is currently active or available.
- Selection Switch: The selection switch allows you to choose between Automatic and Manual modes. For normal operation, ensure it is set to "Auto".
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your Automatic Transfer Switch.
- Visual Inspection: Periodically inspect the switch for any signs of physical damage, loose connections, or overheating (discoloration).
- Cleaning: Keep the unit free from dust and debris. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners.
- Connection Check: Ensure all terminal connections remain tight. Loose connections can lead to overheating and poor performance.
- Functional Test: It is recommended to periodically test the automatic transfer function by simulating a normal power failure (if safe and feasible) to ensure the switch operates correctly.
- Professional Inspection: For critical applications, consider having a qualified electrician inspect the ATS annually.
Important: Always disconnect power to the ATS before performing any maintenance or inspection.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power to load | Both Source A and Source B are unavailable; tripped circuit breaker; loose wiring. | Check both power sources. Reset circuit breakers. Inspect and tighten all wiring connections. |
| ATS does not transfer automatically | Selection switch in "Manual" mode; control power issue; fault in one of the power sources. | Ensure selection switch is set to "Auto". Verify control power supply. Check voltage and frequency of both Source A and Source B. |
| Overheating or burning smell | Loose connections; overloaded circuit; internal fault. | Immediately disconnect power. Check all connections for tightness. Reduce load if overloaded. If problem persists, contact a qualified electrician. |
| Power indication lights not working | No power to the respective source; faulty indicator light. | Verify power supply to Source A and Source B. If power is present, the indicator light may need service. |
If you encounter issues not listed here or if troubleshooting steps do not resolve the problem, please contact a qualified electrician or ZIPCOM customer support.
