1. Introduction

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking and Placement

3.2 Connecting Peripherals

  1. Monitor: Connect your monitor to the appropriate video output port (e.g., DisplayPort, HDMI) on the thin client.
  2. Keyboard and Mouse: Connect the included keyboard and your mouse to the available USB ports. The thin client features 2 USB 3.0 ports.
  3. Network: For wired network connectivity, connect an Ethernet cable from your network router or switch to the RJ-45 port on the thin client.

3.3 Power Connection

Connect the power adapter to the thin client's power input port, then plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press the power button located on the front or top of the unit. The power indicator light will illuminate.
  • To Power Off: Use the shutdown option within the IGEL OS interface. Alternatively, press and hold the power button for several seconds to force a shutdown (use only when necessary).

4.2 Initial Boot and IGEL OS

Upon first power-on, the thin client will boot into the pre-installed IGEL OS. Follow any on-screen prompts for initial configuration, which may include network settings, time zone, and user authentication for your virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).

4.3 Network Connectivity

The thin client supports wired Ethernet connections. Ensure your network cable is securely connected. Network settings can be configured within the IGEL OS control panel if automatic DHCP is not sufficient for your environment.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To clean the exterior of the thin client, use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or spray liquids directly onto the device. Ensure the device is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.

5.2 Software Updates

Regularly check for and apply IGEL OS updates as recommended by your IT administrator or HP. Software updates ensure optimal performance, security, and compatibility.

5.3 Environmental Considerations

Operate the thin client within recommended temperature and humidity ranges. Ensure proper airflow around the device to prevent overheating. Do not block ventilation openings.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 No Power

  • Verify the power adapter is securely connected to both the thin client and a working electrical outlet.
  • Test the electrical outlet with another device.

6.2 No Display

  • Ensure the monitor is powered on and correctly connected to the thin client's video port.
  • Check the monitor's input source settings to ensure it is set to the correct input (e.g., DisplayPort, HDMI).
  • Try a different video cable or monitor if available.

6.3 Network Connectivity Issues

  • Confirm the Ethernet cable is properly connected to both the thin client and the network device (router/switch).
  • Check network status indicators on the thin client and your network device.
