1. Product Overview

This document provides instructions for the Generic Infrared Replacement Remote Control, designed for use with Samsung SMT-C5400, SMT-G7400, and SMT-G7401 Horizon HD TV Mediabox models. This remote is an infrared (IR) replacement and functions identically to the original remote control for these specific models.

2. Setup

2.1 Battery Installation

1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote control.
2. Slide the battery compartment cover downwards or outwards to open it.
3. Insert two (2) AAA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align correctly with the markings inside the compartment.
4. Replace the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.

Note: Batteries are not included with this replacement remote control.

2.2 Initial Use

This replacement remote control is an infrared (IR) device and requires no setup, programming, or code entry. Once batteries are installed, it is ready for immediate use with compatible Samsung SMT-C5400, SMT-G7400, and SMT-G7401 Mediabox models.

3. Operating the Remote Control

Point the remote control directly towards your Samsung Mediabox. Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the Mediabox's IR receiver.

• Power Button: Located at the top, typically labeled "TV" and "BOX" to control power for your television and mediabox.
• Numeric Keypad: Use for direct channel entry or other numerical inputs.
• Navigation Pad: Central directional buttons (Up, Down, Left, Right) with an "OK" button in the center for menu navigation and selection.
• Menu/Back Buttons: Access menus and return to previous screens.
• Volume/Channel Controls: Dedicated buttons for adjusting volume (VOL +/-) and changing channels (CH +/-).
• Playback Controls: Buttons for Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind, Fast Forward, and Record for media playback.
• QWERTY Keyboard (on reverse side): For easier text input in search functions or smart TV applications.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

To clean the remote control, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive moisture, which can damage the remote's electronics.

4.2 Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the remote control's response becomes sluggish or stops functioning. Always replace both batteries simultaneously with new AAA batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries.

  • Ensure you are pointing the remote directly at the Mediabox.
• Certain buttons not working:
  • This remote is a direct replacement. If specific functions do not work, verify that your Mediabox model (SMT-C5400, SMT-G7400, SMT-G7401) is explicitly supported.
  • Ensure the remote is clean and free of debris that might obstruct button presses.
• Compatibility Issues:

  This remote is specifically designed for the models listed. If your Mediabox model is not SMT-C5400, SMT-G7400, or SMT-G7401, this remote may not be compatible. Always verify compatibility with your original remote or device manual before purchase.
