1. Introduction

2. Important Safety Information

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons.

Components:

  • Main Unit/Base: Contains the heating element, water reservoir, and control panel.
  • Water Reservoir: Holds water for steaming. Features a MAX fill line and a visible water level indicator.

4. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
  2. Clean Before First Use: Wash the steaming baskets, lid, and drip tray in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the main unit/base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
  3. Assemble:
    • Place the drip tray onto the main unit/base.
    • Place one or more steaming baskets on top of the drip tray, stacking them as needed.
    • Place the lid on the topmost steaming basket.
  4. Fill Water Reservoir: Fill the water reservoir with clean water up to the MAX line. You can use the side water inlet for convenience.
  5. Position: Place the assembled steamer on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from walls or cabinets to allow steam to escape freely.
  6. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

General Steaming Process:

  1. Ensure the water reservoir is filled to the appropriate level.
  2. Place food items into the steaming baskets. Distribute food evenly to allow for proper steam circulation. Do not overload baskets.
  3. Stack the baskets on the drip tray, then place the lid on top.
  4. Plug the steamer into a power outlet. The display will light up.
  5. Set Cooking Time:
    • Use the +/- buttons to adjust the desired steaming time. The steamer can be set for up to 60 minutes.
    • For immediate steaming, press the "Time Now" button.
    • To set a delayed start, press the "Delay Timer" button and use +/- to set the delay time.
  6. Press the "Start/Stop" button to begin steaming. The steamer will quickly generate steam (within 25 seconds).
  7. Monitor the water level during steaming using the visible indicator. If needed, refill water through the side inlet without interrupting the cooking process.

  8. Once the set time expires, the steamer will automatically shut off and emit a beeping sound.
  9. Carefully remove the lid and baskets using oven mitts, as steam will be hot.
  10. Serve steamed food immediately.

Tips for Steaming Various Foods:

  • For best results, cut food into uniform sizes to ensure even cooking.
  • Place foods that require longer cooking times in the bottom basket, closer to the steam source.
  • Avoid opening the lid frequently, as this releases steam and prolongs cooking time.
  • The steamer is ideal for vegetables, fish, seafood, chicken, eggs, and even rice (note: rice bowl not included).

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your KEENSTAR Food Steamer.

  1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the steamer from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Empty Drip Tray: Carefully remove and empty the drip tray.

  3. Wash Removable Parts: The steaming baskets, lid, and drip tray are dishwasher safe (top rack recommended) or can be washed by hand with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Clean Main Unit/Base: Wipe the exterior of the main unit/base with a damp cloth. For stubborn stains, use a mild detergent. Do not immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.
  5. Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up on the heating element. To descale:
    • Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and water.
    • Run the steamer for 20-30 minutes.
    • Unplug, allow to cool, then empty and rinse the reservoir thoroughly. Repeat if necessary.
  6. Storage: Ensure all parts are completely dry before storing. The baskets can be stacked for compact storage.
