The cord reel can be mounted on a wall or ceiling. Ensure the mounting surface is structurally sound and can support the weight of the reel and any connected tools.

Mounting Steps:

  1. Select Location: Choose a suitable location on a wall or ceiling, preferably near an electrical outlet, ensuring it is free from obstructions and within reach of the 4.5 ft lead-in cord. Use a stud finder to locate a wall stud or ceiling joist for secure mounting.
  2. Mark Drill Points: Hold the mounting bracket against the chosen surface and mark the positions for the two mounting holes.
  3. Drill Pilot Holes: Drill pilot holes at the marked locations. The size of the drill bit will depend on the type of mounting hardware used (e.g., wood screws into a stud, or anchors for drywall/concrete).
  4. Secure Mounting Bracket: Attach the mounting bracket to the surface using the provided screws or appropriate hardware. Ensure it is firmly secured.
  5. Attach Cord Reel: Align the keyhole slots on the back of the cord reel with the screws on the mounted bracket. Slide the reel down to lock it into place.
  6. Connect to Power: Plug the 4.5 ft lead-in cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

6. Operating Instructions

Extending the Cord:

  • Gently pull the cord from the reel to the desired length.
  • The cord will automatically lock into place at intervals. You will hear a clicking sound as it extends.
  • To lock the cord, pull it slightly past the desired length until you hear a click, then slowly release it. The cord will retract slightly and lock.

Retracting the Cord:

  • To retract the cord, pull it gently and steadily until the locking mechanism disengages.
  • Guide the cord back into the reel slowly and evenly to prevent tangling or damage. Do not let the cord snap back uncontrolled.

Using the Triple Outlets:

  • Plug your tools or appliances into the three grounded outlets.
  • The outlets feature a lighted indicator to show when power is active.

Circuit Breaker:

  • If the cord reel is overloaded, the red reset button on the side of the reel will pop out, cutting power to the outlets.
  • To reset, unplug all devices, wait a few moments, then push the red button back in. Reduce the load before plugging devices back in.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the reel from power before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Cord Inspection: Regularly inspect the entire length of the cord, the plug, and the outlets for any signs of wear, cuts, fraying, or damage. Replace the unit if any damage is found.
  • Storage: When not in use, ensure the cord is fully retracted and stored in a dry, indoor location.

8. Troubleshooting

No Power to Outlets:

  • Check Circuit Breaker: If the red reset button is popped out, the circuit breaker has tripped due to an overload. Unplug all devices, reset the breaker, and reduce the load.
  • Check Wall Outlet: Ensure the lead-in cord is securely plugged into a functioning wall outlet. Test the wall outlet with another device.

Cord Not Retracting:

  • Pull Gently: Ensure you are pulling the cord gently and steadily to disengage the locking mechanism before releasing it for retraction.
  • Obstructions: Check for any obstructions preventing the cord from retracting smoothly.
