1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the HILIPE Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner. This manual provides important information on the safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your new vacuum cleaner. Please read it thoroughly before first use and keep it for future reference.

1.1 Intended Use

This cordless handheld vacuum cleaner is designed for dry cleaning of various surfaces including hardwood floors, marble floors, tiles, low pile carpets, and for picking up dust, pet hair, sand, food debris, and other small particles in homes, cars, workshops, and boats. It is compatible with Makita 18V batteries (battery not included).

2. Safety Instructions

Always observe the following safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury.

2.1 General Safety

  • Read all instructions before using the appliance.
  • Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces. This vacuum is intended for dry materials only.
  • Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
  • Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer's recommended attachments.
  • Do not use with a damaged battery or if the appliance has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water.
  • Do not handle the appliance with wet hands.
  • Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce airflow.
  • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
  • Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
  • Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.
  • Exercise extra care when cleaning on stairs.
  • Disconnect the battery before performing any maintenance or cleaning.

2.2 Battery Safety (Battery Not Included)

  • This vacuum cleaner is designed to be compatible with Makita 18V batteries. Ensure you use genuine or compatible Makita 18V batteries.
  • Do not attempt to charge the vacuum cleaner directly. It is powered by an external Makita 18V battery, which must be charged using its dedicated charger.
  • Remove the battery from the appliance before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the appliance.
  • Store the battery and vacuum cleaner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • The vacuum cleaner features low voltage protection and will automatically shut off when the battery is nearly depleted to protect the battery.

3.2 Makita 18V Battery Compatibility

This vacuum cleaner is designed for seamless compatibility with Makita 18V batteries (models 1860B, 1850B, 1820B, 1840B, etc.). This allows users who already own Makita 18V tools to utilize their existing battery ecosystem, making the vacuum a convenient addition to their toolkit. Please note that the battery is not included with the vacuum cleaner.

3.3 Powerful Performance

Equipped with a 140W high-performance motor, the HILIPE vacuum delivers a strong suction power of 10kPa, making it effective for picking up various types of debris. It features a large 600ml dust cup, reducing the frequency of emptying. The dual HEPA filtration system ensures efficient capture of fine particles, contributing to cleaner air.

3.4 Versatile Nozzles and Filtration

The vacuum comes with four different nozzles (floor brush, small circular brush, 2-in-1 brush, sofa brush) and two extension tubes, allowing it to adapt to various cleaning tasks and reach difficult areas. The inclusion of two HEPA filters ensures continuous high-efficiency filtration, with one spare filter provided for convenience.

4. Setup

4.1 Attaching the Battery

  1. Ensure the vacuum cleaner is turned off.
  2. Align the Makita 18V battery (not included) with the battery slot on the vacuum cleaner handle.
  3. Slide the battery firmly into the slot until it clicks into place. Ensure it is securely fastened before operation.

To remove the battery, press the release button(s) on the battery pack and slide it out.

4.2 Assembling Attachments

  1. Select the desired nozzle or extension tube for your cleaning task.
  2. Align the attachment with the suction opening of the vacuum cleaner.
  3. Push the attachment firmly onto the opening until it is securely connected.
  4. For extended reach, connect the extension tubes between the main unit and the desired nozzle.

4.3 Installing/Removing Filter

  1. Twist the dust cup counter-clockwise to detach it from the main unit.
  2. Carefully remove the HEPA filter assembly from inside the dust cup.
  3. To install a new or cleaned filter, place it back into the dust cup, ensuring it sits correctly.
  4. Reattach the dust cup by aligning it with the main unit and twisting clockwise until it locks.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

Once the battery is securely attached, press the power button located on the handle to turn the vacuum cleaner on. Press the button again to turn it off.

5.2 Using Different Nozzles

  • Floor Brush: Ideal for cleaning large areas of hardwood, tile, or low-pile carpets. Attach with extension tubes for upright cleaning.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your vacuum cleaner.

6.1 Emptying the Dust Cup

  1. Ensure the vacuum cleaner is off and the battery is removed.
  2. Twist the dust cup counter-clockwise to detach it from the main unit.
  3. Hold the dust cup over a trash bin and empty its contents.
  4. Wipe the inside of the dust cup with a dry cloth if necessary.
  5. Reattach the dust cup by aligning it and twisting clockwise until it locks.

6.2 Cleaning Filters

It is recommended to clean the HEPA filter regularly, especially after heavy use, to maintain suction power.

  1. Remove the dust cup and then the HEPA filter assembly as described in Section 4.3.
  2. Tap the filter gently over a trash bin to dislodge dust and debris.
  3. For a more thorough cleaning, rinse the filter under cool running water. Do not use hot water or detergents.
  4. Allow the filter to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting it into the vacuum cleaner. Do not use the vacuum with a wet filter.
  5. Replace the filter if it is visibly damaged or if suction power significantly decreases even after cleaning.

6.3 Cleaning Attachments

Wipe all attachments with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or debris. Ensure they are completely dry before storing or reattaching.

6.4 Storage

Store the vacuum cleaner and its accessories in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your HILIPE Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
