Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for accurate measurements. The Tuf-2000B uses clamp-on transducers, requiring no pipe cutting or process interruption.
1. Transducer Selection
Select the appropriate transducer type based on your pipe diameter:
- TS-2 Transducers: For pipe diameters ranging from 20mm to 100mm.
- TM-1 Transducers: For pipe diameters ranging from 50mm to 700mm.

Figure 3: TS-2 and TM-1 Transducers.
2. Pipe Preparation
Ensure the pipe surface where transducers will be mounted is clean, smooth, and free from rust, paint, or debris. Apply a thin, even layer of the provided silicone sealant (couplant) to the contact surface of the transducers to ensure good acoustic coupling.
3. Transducer Mounting
Mount the transducers onto the pipe using the steel belts. Ensure they are securely fastened and aligned according to the chosen mounting method (V-method, Z-method, etc., as detailed in the full user manual for specific applications). The spacing between transducers is critical for accuracy.

4. Electrical Connections
Connect the transducers to the Tuf-2000B host unit using the provided flow signal cable. Ensure all connections are tight and properly sealed to maintain the IP67 rating. The host unit also features signal output (4-20mA, OCT Pulse, Relay) and signal input (3-way 4-20mA) for integration with other systems.

Operating Instructions
After physical installation, configure the Tuf-2000B host unit via its keypad and display.
1. Power On
Connect the host unit to a suitable power source. The display will illuminate.
2. Parameter Configuration
Navigate through the menu using the keypad to input the following parameters:
- Pipe Outer Diameter: Enter the exact outer diameter of the pipe.
- Pipe Wall Thickness: Input the thickness of the pipe wall.
- Pipe Material: Select the material of the pipe (e.g., Steel, Stainless Steel, PVC, Copper, Aluminum, Glass Steel). The device supports pipes with or without liners.
- Fluid Type: Specify the type of liquid being measured (e.g., Water, Sea Water, Sewage, Oil, Alcohol). The liquid must be capable of transmitting ultrasound.
- Transducer Type: Confirm the type of transducers installed (TS-2 or TM-1).
- Transducer Mounting: Select the mounting method used (e.g., V-method).
- Transducer Spacing: The device will calculate and display the optimal spacing. Adjust your physical installation if necessary to match this value.
- Liquid Temperature: Input the approximate temperature of the liquid.
Refer to the following video for a demonstration of parameter input:
Video 1: Demonstration of setting up parameters on the Tuf-2000B Ultrasonic Flow Meter, including pipe outer diameter, wall thickness, material, fluid type, transducer type, mounting, spacing, and liquid temperature.
3. Flow Measurement
Once parameters are correctly entered, the device will begin displaying flow measurements. Monitor the readings for stability and accuracy. Adjust transducer position slightly if readings are unstable.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your flow meter.
- Cleaning: Keep the host unit and transducers clean and free from dust, dirt, or corrosive substances. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically check all cables and connections for wear, damage, or loose contacts. Ensure cable glands are tight.
- Couplant Check: For permanent installations, periodically inspect the silicone sealant (couplant) between the transducers and the pipe. Reapply if it appears dry or degraded.
- Environmental Protection: Ensure the device is protected from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, and excessive moisture, despite its IP67 rating.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Display/Power: Check power connections and ensure the unit is receiving power.
- Unstable Readings:
- Verify transducer spacing and alignment.
- Ensure sufficient couplant is applied and there are no air gaps.
- Check for air bubbles or solids in the fluid, which can interfere with ultrasonic signals.
- Incorrect Readings:
- Double-check all entered parameters (pipe diameter, wall thickness, material, fluid type).
- Ensure the correct transducer type (TS-2 or TM-1) is selected for the pipe size.
- Confirm the fluid is homogeneous and capable of transmitting ultrasound.
- Display Blank but Keys Beep: This indicates a potential internal display failure. Contact customer support for assistance.
