Setup

1. Unpacking and Placement

1. Remove all packaging materials.
2. Place the machine on a stable, level surface, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.

2. Water Tank and Filter Installation

1. Remove the water tank from the machine.
2. Insert the CLEARYL Smart+ filter cartridge into the water tank, ensuring it clicks into place.
3. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold tap water.
4. Reinsert the water tank into the machine. The machine's RFID technology will detect the filter.

3. Bean Container Filling

1. Open the aroma preservation cover on top of the machine.
2. Fill the bean container with fresh whole coffee beans (e.g., East Coast Blend). Do not use ground coffee, instant coffee, or caramelized beans.
3. Close the aroma preservation cover securely.

4. Initial Rinse

After initial setup, the machine will prompt you to perform an initial rinse. Follow the instructions on the display.

Operating the Machine

1. Overview of Controls

The Jura E4 features an intuitive symbol display, buttons, and a rotary dial for navigation and selection.

The CLEARYL Smart+ filter uses RFID technology to monitor usage and will alert you when replacement is needed. Replace the filter promptly to maintain water quality and prevent limescale buildup.

1. When prompted by the machine, remove the used filter from the water tank.
2. Insert a new CLEARYL Smart+ filter cartridge as described in the Setup section.

3. Cleaning Program (3-Phase Cleaning Tablets)

The Jura E4 has an integrated cleaning program that should be run when prompted by the machine. This program uses Jura 3-Phase Cleaning Tablets to remove coffee oils and residues.

1. When the machine displays "Clean Machine," follow the on-screen instructions.
2. You will be prompted to add a Jura 3-Phase Cleaning Tablet to the designated opening.
