Setup and First Use

Before using your electric kettle for the first time, please follow these steps:

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the kettle and all accessories from the packaging. Dispose of packaging materials responsibly.
  2. Clean: Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a damp cloth. Wash the interior of the jug and the filter with warm, soapy water, then rinse thoroughly. Do not immerse the kettle base or power cord in water.
  3. First Boil: Fill the kettle with fresh water to the maximum fill line (1.7L). Boil the water and then discard it. Repeat this process 2-3 times to remove any manufacturing residues and ensure optimal taste.
  4. Placement: Place the power base on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the counter. Ensure the power cord is not dangling.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to safely boil water with your Timco JE8707 Electric Kettle:

  1. Fill the Kettle: Open the lid and fill the kettle with fresh water. Do not fill below the minimum (0.5L) or above the maximum (1.7L) fill lines indicated on the glass jug. Overfilling may cause boiling water to spill out.
  2. Close the Lid: Ensure the lid is securely closed before operating.
  3. Place on Power Base: Position the kettle firmly onto its power base.
  4. Plug In: Plug the power cord into a standard 110V electrical outlet.
  5. Switch On: Press the power switch down. The blue LED indicator light will illuminate, signaling that the kettle is heating.
  6. Automatic Shut-off: The kettle will automatically switch off once the water reaches a rolling boil. The blue LED indicator light will turn off.
  7. Pour: Carefully lift the kettle from its base and pour the hot water. Always hold the kettle by its heat-resistant handle.
  8. Re-boil: If you need to re-boil water, wait a few moments for the internal thermostat to reset before pressing the power switch again.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your kettle.

Exterior Cleaning:

  • Always unplug the kettle and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the surface.
  • Ensure the power base and electrical connections remain dry.

Interior Cleaning and Descaling:

Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the kettle, especially in hard water areas. Descaling regularly will maintain performance and efficiency.

  • Vinegar Method: Fill the kettle with 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts water. Let it stand for at least 30 minutes, or boil the mixture. Discard the solution and rinse the kettle thoroughly several times with fresh water.
  • Citric Acid Method: Dissolve 1 tablespoon of citric acid in 1 liter of water. Pour into the kettle and boil. Discard the solution and rinse thoroughly.
  • Commercial Descaler: Follow the instructions provided with a commercial kettle descaling product.
  • After descaling, boil fresh water in the kettle 2-3 times and discard to remove any residual descaler taste.
