4. Setup and Installation

4.1. Mounting the Device

The Carpuride W502 comes with a robust mounting system designed for motorcycle handlebars. Follow these steps for secure installation:

  1. Attach the Mount to Handlebar: Use a Phillips screwdriver to securely attach the U-shaped support mount to your motorcycle's handlebar. Ensure it is positioned for optimal viewing and accessibility.
  2. Clamp the Connecting Rod: Connect the extension rod to the mounted support. The rod allows for 360° adjustment to achieve the perfect angle.
  3. Insert Device and Adjust: Slide the Carpuride W502 unit onto the mount. Tighten the adjustment ring to firmly secure the device in your desired position.

4.2. Wiring the Power Cable

The power cable connects directly to your motorcycle's battery for a stable power supply.

  • Power Wire (Red): Connect the red wire to the motorcycle battery's positive terminal.
  • Ground Wire (Black): Connect the black wire to the motorcycle battery's negative terminal.
  • ACC Power Supply: Connect the ACC power supply and negative terminal as indicated in the wiring diagram for proper operation.

Important Note on Power Supply:

When using the motorcycle power line to supply power, ensure that the output voltage and current are 12V, 1A. If the USB port on the motorcycle outputs voltage and current less than 5V, 2A, it is not recommended to use the Carpuride W502 with a USB boost line, as insufficient voltage or current may cause the screen to automatically shut down.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Powering On/Off

After connecting the power, the device will automatically power on with your motorcycle's ignition. To manually power on/off or put the screen to sleep:

  • Power On: The device powers on automatically when the motorcycle is started.
  • Display Off: Short press the power button once to display the volume bar. Long press (do not press for too long to avoid shutting down) to turn off the screen.
  • Screen On: Briefly press the power button to turn the screen back on.

5.2. Connecting to Your Smartphone (CarPlay/Android Auto)

The Carpuride W502 supports wireless CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless integration with your smartphone.

  1. Enable Bluetooth on Phone: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
  2. Search for Device: On the Carpuride W502 screen, navigate to the "i-Play" (for CarPlay) or "A-Auto" (for Android Auto) icon. The device will display its Bluetooth name (e.g., "Carpuride(038577)").
  3. Pairing: On your smartphone, search for and select the Carpuride device in your Bluetooth settings. Confirm the pairing request on both devices if prompted.
  4. Automatic Connection: After initial setup, the device will automatically connect to your phone on start-up.

5.3. Dual Bluetooth for Headsets/Helmets

To connect your Bluetooth headset or helmet for audio output:

  1. Connect Phone First: Successfully connect your phone to the Carpuride W502 via CarPlay or Android Auto.
  2. Select Audio Output: On the Carpuride W502, select "Audio Output" and then "iPlay/Auto".
  3. Pair Headset: Go to the "BT Trans" interface on the Carpuride W502. Turn on your cycling helmet's Bluetooth and click "Carpuride Moto BT search" to find and pair.
  4. Confirm Connection: A "Connected" status indicates successful pairing. If disconnected, delete the pairing record from your headset's Bluetooth list and re-pair.

5.4. Using Voice Control

With your phone connected, you can use voice commands (Siri for iOS, Google Assistant for Android) for navigation, calls, and music playback, keeping your hands on the handlebars.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Carpuride W502, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the screen and exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Weather Protection: While IP67 waterproof, prolonged exposure to extreme conditions (e.g., direct high-pressure water jets) should be avoided. The device is designed to withstand temperatures from -20°C to 80°C.
