2. Setup
2.1 Setting the Time
- Pull the crown (located on the right side of the watch case) out to position 2.
- Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time.
- Push the crown back into position 1 to start the watch.
2.2 Setting the Date
- Pull the crown out to position 1.5 (halfway between position 1 and 2).
- Turn the crown clockwise to advance the date. Continue until the correct date is displayed.
- Push the crown back into position 1.
Note: To avoid damaging the movement, do not set the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM. If the current time falls within this period, first set the time outside this range, then adjust the date, and finally reset the time.

- To remove the strap, locate the small lever on the underside of the strap where it connects to the watch case.
- Slide the lever inwards to retract the spring bar, then gently pull the strap away from the watch case.
- To attach a new strap, insert one end of the spring bar into the lug hole on the watch case.
- Slide the quick-release lever inwards, align the other end of the spring bar with the opposite lug hole, and release the lever. Ensure the strap is securely fastened by gently pulling on it.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Chronograph Function
The chronograph allows for precise timing of events. Your watch features a chronograph movement with sub-dials for seconds, minutes, and a 24-hour indicator.
- Start: Press the top pusher (A) to start the chronograph. The central second hand will begin to move.
- Stop: Press the top pusher (A) again to stop the chronograph. The elapsed time will be indicated by the central second hand and the minute sub-dial.
- Reset: After stopping the chronograph, press the bottom pusher (B) to reset all chronograph hands to their zero positions.
3.2 Tachymeter Function
The tachymeter scale, located on the outer rim of the dial, is used to measure speed over a known distance (e.g., 1 kilometer or 1 mile).
- Start the chronograph at the beginning of the measured distance (e.g., a mile marker).
- Stop the chronograph when you reach the end of the measured distance.
- The number on the tachymeter scale indicated by the central chronograph second hand represents the average speed in units per hour (e.g., miles per hour or kilometers per hour).

4. Maintenance
4.1 Water Resistance
Your Timex Marlin watch is water-resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM). This means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, showering, and fishing. It is not suitable for diving or snorkeling. Avoid operating the crown or pushers when the watch is wet to prevent water ingress.
4.2 Crystal Care
The watch features an acrylic crystal, which provides a classic vintage look. Acrylic crystals are more prone to minor scratches than sapphire crystals. Small scratches can often be buffed out using a specialized acrylic polish (e.g., PolyWatch) and a soft cloth. For deeper scratches or damage, professional service is recommended.
4.3 Battery Replacement
The watch is powered by a lithium metal battery. When the watch stops running, it indicates the battery needs replacement. Battery replacement should be performed by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.
4.4 Leather Strap Care
The natural leather strap will develop a unique patina over time. To prolong its life, avoid prolonged exposure to water, direct sunlight, and harsh chemicals. Clean with a soft, damp cloth and allow to air dry. If the strap becomes worn or damaged, it can be easily replaced using the quick-release spring bars.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Watch Not Running
- Check Crown Position: Ensure the crown is fully pushed into position 1.
- Battery: If the watch has stopped completely, the battery may need replacement. Consult a professional watch technician.
5.2 Chronograph Hands Not Resetting to Zero
If the chronograph hands (central second, minute sub-dial) do not return precisely to the zero position after resetting, they may need calibration.
- Pull the crown out to position 2.
- Press the top pusher (A) repeatedly to advance the central chronograph second hand until it aligns with the 12 o'clock (zero) position.
- Press the bottom pusher (B) repeatedly to advance the chronograph minute sub-dial hand until it aligns with its zero position.
- Once all chronograph hands are aligned, push the crown back into position 1.
5.3 Date Not Changing
- Time Setting: Ensure the time is set correctly, especially the AM/PM cycle. The date typically changes around midnight. If the date changes at noon, you may need to advance the time by 12 hours.
- Date Adjustment Window: Avoid adjusting the date manually between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this can interfere with the date change mechanism.
