1. Setup and Initial Use
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is designed for intuitive setup. Upon first power-on, the device will guide you through the initial configuration steps, including language selection, Wi-Fi connection, and Google account setup.
Charging the Tablet
Before initial use, ensure your tablet is fully charged. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra features an 11,200mAh battery. For optimal charging speed, use a 45W charger (not included). A 45W charger can fully charge the device in approximately 2 hours. Using a lower wattage charger will result in longer charging times.
The tablet comes with a USB Type-C charging cable. Connect one end of the cable to the tablet's USB-C port and the other end to a compatible power adapter.
S-Pen Inclusion
The S-Pen is included with your Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. It can be magnetically attached to the back of the tablet for charging and storage. There are also non-charging magnetic spots on the longer sides of the tablet for convenient storage, offering a flatter profile when storing the tablet away.
2. Operating the Tablet
Display and Brightness
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra features a large 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. The display offers a refresh rate of 60Hz/120Hz, providing smooth visuals. A significant improvement in this model is its enhanced brightness, reaching up to 930 nits of peak brightness. This allows for clear and contrasty viewing even under direct sunlight, expanding the usability of the tablet in various environments.

Samsung DeX Mode
Samsung DeX transforms your tablet into a desktop-like experience, allowing for enhanced productivity. In DeX mode, you can utilize resizable windows and drag-and-drop functionality, similar to a traditional computer operating system.
For an even larger workspace, you can connect the tablet to an external monitor or TV. This requires a USB Type-C to HDMI converter (not supplied by Samsung). DeX functionality is supported on external displays, providing a versatile computing environment.
Performance and Gaming
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra offers robust performance for multitasking and demanding applications. Mobile games run very smoothly, even on very high settings, and the tablet maintains excellent thermal management, preventing overheating during extended use.
While the large screen enhances the gaming experience, it's important to note that many mobile games are optimized for smaller phone screens. This can sometimes make operating FPS games with thumbs challenging due to the increased distance between on-screen controls.
Audio Quality
The tablet is equipped with four powerful speakers, delivering loud and clear audio with good body in the lower mids and bass. The sound quality is comparable to a small portable speaker, offering a rich audio experience for media consumption. The device also supports Dolby Atmos, which can be enabled in the sound settings to provide a more immersive and airy soundstage.

3. Maintenance
Battery Care
To prolong battery life, it is recommended to use the auto-brightness setting. Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. For optimal performance, use a Samsung-approved charger and cable.
4. Troubleshooting
On-Screen Keyboard Typing Issues
Users may experience false inputs or typos when typing on the large on-screen keyboard, especially when attempting to type with a regular hand posture as one would with a physical keyboard. This can force users to type more carefully and slowly, even with Samsung's enhanced accuracy feature turned on.
Solution: For improved accuracy and speed, consider using a one-finger typing method. Alternatively, a separate physical keyboard (such as the Samsung Smart Cover with a built-in keyboard and trackpad) can significantly enhance the typing experience and overall productivity.

App Compatibility and DeX Limitations
Some Android applications may not translate well into DeX mode, being stuck at a certain size with no way to resize them except for toggling into a larger or smaller template. Each time you toggle the size, the app restarts, potentially leading to loss of unsaved progress.
Note: Tablet DeX does not support direct connection to PCs, either wired or wirelessly. You can only connect to an external monitor for DeX, or to a TV through a converter.
