Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to safely operate your ProCom Ventless Propane Heater:

  1. Prepare for Ignition: Ensure the gas supply is open. Locate the control knob and the ignitor button on the top of the heater.
  2. Light the Pilot: Turn the control knob to the 'PILOT' position. Press and hold the control knob down to allow gas to flow to the pilot. While holding the knob, press the 'IGNITOR' button repeatedly until the pilot flame lights. Continue to hold the control knob down for approximately 30-60 seconds after the pilot lights to ensure the thermocouple is heated.
  3. Verify Pilot Flame: Release the control knob. The pilot flame should remain lit. If it extinguishes, repeat step 2.
  4. Engage Main Burner: Once the pilot is stable, turn the control knob to your desired heat setting (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). The main burner will ignite, producing a blue flame.
  5. Adjust Temperature: The heater features a thermostat control with High/Medium/Low settings. Adjust the control knob to achieve your desired room temperature. The heater will cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.
  6. Shut Down: To turn off the heater, turn the control knob to the 'OFF' position. Close the main gas supply valve.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your heater. Always turn off the heater and disconnect the gas supply before performing any maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the heater clean by wiping it with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation Openings: Ensure all ventilation openings are clear of obstructions.
  • Pilot and Burner Inspection: Periodically inspect the pilot and main burner for proper flame appearance. The pilot flame should be steady and blue. Any yellowing or flickering may indicate a problem and should be addressed by a qualified service technician.
  • Professional Service: For internal cleaning or any repairs, contact a qualified service professional.

Troubleshooting

If your heater is not operating correctly, refer to the following common issues:

  • Heater does not light: Ensure the gas supply is open. Check if the pilot light is lit. If not, follow the ignition instructions carefully, holding the control knob down for sufficient time.
  • Pilot light does not stay lit: This could indicate an issue with the thermocouple or the ODS system. Ensure the control knob is held down long enough during ignition. If the problem persists, contact a qualified service technician.
  • Heater shuts off unexpectedly: The Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) system may have detected low oxygen levels or carbon monoxide. Ensure adequate ventilation in the room. If the issue continues, evacuate the area and contact a qualified service technician.
  • Insufficient heat: Verify the thermostat setting is appropriate for the room size and desired temperature. Ensure no obstructions are blocking the heat output.
