Safety Information

To ensure safe use and prevent injury or damage, please adhere to the following safety guidelines:

  • Weight Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 130 lbs (59 kg) for the cabinet. Overloading can lead to structural failure and injury.
  • Assembly: Assemble the cabinet carefully, following all instructions provided in this manual. Ensure all fasteners are securely tightened.
  • Mounting: This cabinet is designed for wall mounting. Ensure the wall structure is capable of supporting the cabinet's weight plus its contents. Use appropriate mounting hardware for your wall type (e.g., wood studs, concrete, drywall anchors).
  • Locking Mechanism: Keep the cabinet locked when not in use, especially if storing hazardous materials or valuable items, to prevent unauthorized access or accidental injury.
  • Door Operation: The flip-up door features hydraulic rods for smooth operation. Ensure hands and fingers are clear of pinch points when opening and closing the door.
  • Maintenance: Regularly inspect the cabinet for any signs of wear, damage, or loose fasteners. Address any issues promptly.

Setup and Assembly

The MetalMax wall cabinet is designed for straightforward assembly. Follow these steps carefully.

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Lay them out on a clean, flat, and protected surface to prevent scratches. Identify all main parts using the identification letters (if provided).
  2. Assemble Cabinet Body: Follow the detailed diagrams in the included user manual to connect the cabinet panels. Ensure all screws are tightened securely but do not overtighten, especially with an electric screwdriver.
  3. Install Hydraulic Rods: Attach the hydraulic rods to the designated points on the cabinet body and the flip-up door. These rods assist in smooth door operation.
  4. Attach Noise Reduction Pads: Apply the provided noise reduction pads to the contact points of the door to prevent noise during opening and closing.
  5. Prepare for Wall Mounting:
    • Locate suitable mounting points on your wall, preferably wall studs for maximum security. The cabinet features pre-drilled holes on the back panel for mounting.
    • Mark the drilling locations on the wall. Ensure the cabinet will be level.
    • Drill pilot holes as necessary and install appropriate wall anchors or screws (not included, unless specified in accessories package) that can support the cabinet's weight.
  6. Mount the Cabinet: Carefully lift the assembled cabinet and align the pre-drilled holes on the back with the installed wall anchors/screws. Secure the cabinet firmly to the wall.
  7. Install Lock: Insert the lock mechanism into the designated slot on the cabinet door and secure it. Test the lock with the provided keys.

Operation

Operating your MetalMax wall cabinet is simple and secure.

  • Opening the Door: The cabinet features a spring-loaded, hydraulic flip-up door. Gently pull the door handle (located at the bottom, with a 45° bevel design) downwards. The hydraulic rods will assist the door in opening smoothly upwards to a 90-degree angle, keeping it out of the way and preventing head bumps.
  • Closing the Door: Gently pull the door downwards until it closes securely. Ensure it latches properly.
  • Locking the Cabinet: Insert one of the three provided keys into the lock on the door. Turn the key to engage the locking mechanism. Remove the key and store it in a safe place.
  • Unlocking the Cabinet: Insert the key into the lock and turn it to disengage the locking mechanism. The door can then be opened.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your cabinet.

  • Cleaning: The powder-coated steel surfaces are easy to clean. Use a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all screws and fasteners to ensure they remain tight. Re-tighten if necessary.
  • Hydraulic Rods: Inspect the hydraulic rods for smooth operation. If they become stiff or fail to hold the door open, they may need lubrication or replacement.
  • Lock Mechanism: If the lock becomes stiff, apply a small amount of graphite lubricant to the keyhole. Avoid oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust.
