1. Introduction

The RØDE Wireless GO II TX is an extremely versatile and ultra-compact wireless transmitter designed for interviews, filmmaking, and a wide range of content creation. This device features a high-quality built-in microphone and offers on-board recording capabilities for over 40 hours of audio. It utilizes RØDE's cutting-edge Series IV 2.4GHz wireless transmission, providing up to 200m (line of sight) range. Please note: This product requires a RØDE Series IV RX (receiver) to operate, such as the Wireless GO II RX, Wireless ME RX, RØDECaster Pro II, RØDECaster Duo, or Streamer X.

2. What's in the Box

3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Transmitter

Before initial use, fully charge your Wireless GO II TX transmitter using the provided USB-C to USB-C cable. Connect the USB-C end to the transmitter's USB-C port and the other end to a compatible USB power source (e.g., computer, USB wall adapter). The battery indicator lights on the transmitter will show charging status.

3.2 Powering On and Pairing

To power on the transmitter, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The transmitter will automatically attempt to pair with a RØDE Series IV receiver (sold separately). Ensure your receiver is also powered on and in pairing mode. Once successfully paired, the connection indicator lights on both devices will become solid blue.

3.3 Attaching the Furry Windshield

For outdoor use or in windy conditions, attach one of the provided furry windshields to the built-in microphone. Align the two small dots on the windshield with the corresponding dots around the microphone capsule on the transmitter, then gently twist to secure it in place. This helps to reduce wind noise for clearer audio recordings.

3.4 Connecting an External Lavalier Microphone

The Wireless GO II TX features a 3.5mm TRS input for connecting an external lavalier microphone (sold separately). Plug your lavalier microphone into this port. The transmitter will automatically detect the external microphone and switch from its built-in microphone.

4. Operating

4.1 Using the Built-in Microphone

The Wireless GO II TX has a high-quality omnidirectional microphone built directly into the unit. Simply clip the transmitter onto your talent's clothing, ensuring the microphone capsule is facing the sound source. The omnidirectional pattern captures sound equally from all directions, making it versatile for various recording scenarios.

4.2 On-board Recording

The transmitter can record over 40 hours of audio internally. This feature provides a backup recording in case of wireless interference or signal dropouts. To manage and access these recordings, connect the receiver to a computer via USB and use the RØDE Central software.

4.3 Gain Control and GainAssist

The RØDE Wireless GO II system offers flexible gain control. While the transmitter itself does not have physical gain buttons, the receiver allows you to adjust the output gain to match your camera or recording device's input levels. Additionally, the system features GainAssist technology, which can be configured via the RØDE Central app, to automatically optimize audio levels and prevent clipping, ensuring a clean and consistent recording.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance, regularly clean your Wireless GO II TX. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior of the transmitter. For the furry windshields, gently shake them to remove dust or debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

5.2 Battery Care

The transmitter uses an internal rechargeable battery. For best battery life, avoid fully discharging the unit frequently. Charge the device regularly, especially before extended use. Store the unit in a cool, dry place when not in use.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Pairing Issues

If the transmitter fails to pair with the receiver, ensure both devices are powered on and within range (up to 200m line of sight). Check that the receiver is not already paired with other transmitters. Refer to your receiver's manual for specific pairing instructions, as the process may vary slightly between RØDE Series IV receivers.

6.2 No Audio or Poor Audio Quality

• Check Connections: Ensure all cables (if using an external lavalier) are securely connected.
• Gain Settings: Verify that the gain settings on your receiver and recording device are appropriately adjusted. Use GainAssist if available.
• Wind Noise: If recording outdoors, ensure the furry windshield is correctly attached to the transmitter.
• Interference: Move away from sources of strong wireless interference (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, other 2.4GHz devices).
• Battery Level: Low battery on either the transmitter or receiver can affect performance.

6.3 Charging Problems

If the transmitter is not charging, try a different USB-C cable or power source. Ensure the USB-C port on the transmitter is clean and free of debris. If the issue persists, contact RØDE support.
