4. Assembly Instructions
Follow these steps carefully to assemble your Shulemin 2-in-1 Trimmer. Refer to the component diagrams in Section 2 and 3.
- Attach the Control Rod and Extension Rod: Connect the control rod (with the U-handle and throttle trigger) to the extension rod. Ensure the connection is secure and the locking mechanism (if present) is engaged.
- Connect the Engine Unit: Attach the assembled rod to the engine unit. Align the shaft and secure it with the provided fasteners. Ensure the drive cable from the engine connects properly to the shaft.
- Install the U-Handle: Position the U-handle on the control rod for comfortable operation and tighten its clamps securely. The throttle trigger should be easily accessible.
- Attach the Safety Guard: Mount the safety guard to the lower part of the shaft, just above where the cutting head will be installed. Ensure it is oriented correctly to deflect debris away from the operator. Tighten all bolts firmly.
- Install the Cutting Head:
- For String Trimmer Head: Align the plastic head with the shaft's attachment point and secure it according to the instructions.
- For 3-Teeth Blade: Place the blade onto the shaft's mounting flange, ensuring it sits flat. Install the washer and nut, then tighten securely using the provided tools. Ensure the blade rotates freely but has no wobble.

5. Fuel Mixing and Filling
This trimmer uses a 2-stroke engine and requires a specific mixture of unleaded gasoline and 2-stroke engine oil. Refer to the engine unit for the exact mixing ratio, typically 25:1 or 50:1 (gasoline:oil).
- Prepare the Fuel Mixture: Use the provided oil can (mixing bottle) to accurately measure the gasoline and 2-stroke oil.
- Fill the mixing bottle with the required amount of fresh, unleaded gasoline (minimum 89 octane).
- Add the correct amount of 2-stroke engine oil for air-cooled engines.
- Securely close the mixing bottle and shake it thoroughly to ensure the fuel and oil are well mixed.
- Fill the Fuel Tank:
- Ensure the engine is off and cool.
- Move to a well-ventilated outdoor area, away from any ignition sources.
- Carefully open the fuel tank cap on the engine.
- Using the funnel, slowly pour the mixed fuel into the fuel tank. Do not overfill; leave some space for expansion.
- Securely close the fuel tank cap. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.
Caution: Never use straight gasoline or automotive oil in this 2-stroke engine. This will cause severe engine damage.
6. Operating Instructions
Before starting, ensure you have read and understood all safety information and the trimmer is properly assembled and fueled.
6.1 Starting the Engine
- Place the trimmer on a flat, stable surface.
- Ensure the cutting attachment is clear of any obstructions.
- Set the ON/OFF switch to the "ON" position.
- Engage the choke lever (if cold start).
- Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible in the return line.
- Pull the starter rope (Starter Roll) firmly and steadily until the engine attempts to start or starts briefly. Do not pull the rope to its full extension.
- Once the engine fires or starts briefly, disengage the choke lever.
- Pull the starter rope again until the engine starts and runs smoothly.
- Allow the engine to warm up for a few moments before engaging the throttle.
6.2 Using the Trimmer/Brush Cutter
- Wear the shoulder strap for balanced weight distribution and reduced fatigue.
- Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands on the U-handle.
- Maintain a stable stance and keep the cutting head away from your body.
- Gradually press the throttle trigger to increase engine speed.
- For String Trimming: Use a sweeping motion to cut grass. Avoid hitting hard surfaces or objects.
- For Brush Cutting: Use the 3-tooth blade for thicker weeds and brush. Approach the material slowly and cut in small sections. Be aware of kickback.
- Always keep the safety guard between you and the cutting attachment.

Figure 6.1: Operating the Trimmer
6.3 Stopping the Engine
- Release the throttle trigger to allow the engine to return to idle.
- Move the ON/OFF switch to the "OFF" position.
- Wait for the cutting attachment to come to a complete stop before setting the trimmer down.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your trimmer. Always ensure the engine is off and cool, and the spark plug cap is removed before performing any maintenance.
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the trimmer housing, engine fins, and cutting head. Remove any grass, dirt, or debris. Do not use water to clean the engine.
- Air Filter: Check the air filter regularly (every 5-10 hours of operation). Clean or replace if it is dirty or clogged. A dirty air filter can reduce engine performance.
- Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug every 20-30 hours of operation. Clean or replace if it is fouled or worn. Ensure the gap is correct according to engine specifications.
- Fuel Filter: Periodically check the fuel filter located inside the fuel tank. Replace if it is clogged.
- Cutting Attachments:
- String Trimmer Head: Replace the trimmer line as needed. Inspect the head for cracks or damage.
- 3-Teeth Blade: Inspect the blade for dullness, nicks, or cracks. Sharpen or replace as necessary. A dull blade can cause excessive vibration and strain on the engine.
- Storage:
- For short-term storage, ensure the trimmer is clean and dry.
- For long-term storage (over 30 days), drain all fuel from the tank and carburetor. Run the engine until it stops from lack of fuel. This prevents fuel degradation and carburetor issues.
- Store the trimmer in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
