3. Setup and Assembly

The MELLCOM Hardtop Gazebo is designed for assembly by 2-3 people and typically takes 4-6 hours. It arrives in multiple boxes; ensure all boxes are received before starting. Follow the included detailed instructions for a smooth assembly process.

Assembly Tips:

  • Organize Parts: Unpack and organize all components. It is helpful to sort hardware into labeled bags to easily identify bolts and screws.
  • Keep Fasteners Loose Initially: When assembling the frame, keep all attachments hand-tight or slightly loose until the entire section is aligned and square. This allows for minor adjustments.
  • Ensure Level and Square Base: Before proceeding with upper sections, verify that the four uprights and lower horizontal rails are perfectly level and square. This is critical for the overall stability and alignment of the gazebo.
  • Roof Panel Installation:
    • For rectangular models, begin roof panel installation on one of the shorter walls.
    • Install triangular corner pieces first, sliding them up from the bottom and aligning holes.
    • Ensure clips on roof tiles are secure. If any are too snug, gentle adjustment with pliers may be needed.
    • Do not fully tighten roof panel bolts until all panels are in place and properly aligned.
  • Curtain and Netting Installation:
    • The finished side of both the solid panels and screen panels should face outwards.
    • The screen panels have a hook and Velcro straps. The hook goes through the solid fabric grommet and clips into the metal upright.
    • Utilize the double-track system to easily slide each layer of curtains and netting.
  • Final Tightening: Once all components are assembled and aligned, go back and fully tighten all nuts and bolts using the provided tools or appropriate wrenches.

4. Operating Instructions

The MELLCOM Hardtop Gazebo is designed for ease of use and adaptability to various weather conditions and privacy needs.

Curtains and Netting:

  • Privacy Curtains: The outer layer consists of solid, PBV-coated curtains. These can be fully closed using the zippers for complete privacy and enhanced UV protection.
  • Insect Netting: The inner layer features fine mesh netting, which can be zipped closed to protect against insects while allowing airflow.
  • Dual Track System: Both the privacy curtains and insect netting operate on separate tracks, allowing them to be opened or closed independently.
  • Securing Curtains: Use the integrated two-in-one Velcro straps to tie back the curtains and netting when not in use, keeping them neatly organized and preventing them from flapping in the wind.

Accessory Hook:

  • A central "U" hook is provided on the interior of the roof structure. This hook is suitable for hanging lightweight accessories such as outdoor ceiling fans or decorative lighting. Ensure any hung items do not exceed the weight limit specified in the full instruction manual.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your MELLCOM Hardtop Gazebo.

  • Cleaning the Frame: Clean the aluminum frame periodically with a mild soap and water solution. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots and maintain the finish. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
  • Cleaning the Roof Panels: The galvanized steel roof panels can be cleaned with a soft brush or cloth and a mild detergent. Rinse well. Remove any accumulated leaves, snow, or debris from the roof to prevent excessive load and potential damage.
  • Curtains and Netting Care: The PBV-coated curtains and netting are removable for cleaning. Follow the care instructions on their labels, typically involving gentle washing with mild soap and air drying. Ensure they are completely dry before storing to prevent mildew.
  • Hardware Check: Periodically check all nuts, bolts, and screws to ensure they remain tight. Re-tighten as necessary, especially after strong winds or heavy rain.
  • Anchoring System: Regularly inspect the anchoring points for stability. If the gazebo is installed on soft ground, ensure the anchors remain firmly in place.
  • Winterization (if applicable): While the galvanized steel roof is designed for snow load, consider removing curtains and netting during heavy winter seasons or extreme weather to prolong their life.
