Setup

1. Initial Winding

Your SEIKO SRPK01 watch is powered by an automatic mechanical movement. Before initial use or if the watch has stopped, it needs to be wound.

  1. Unscrew the crown (if it's a screw-down crown) by turning it counter-clockwise.
  2. Pull the crown out to position 1 (normal operating position, if it's a non-screw-down crown, it's already in this position).
  3. Turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will manually wind the mainspring.
  4. Push the crown back in and screw it down clockwise until it is secure (for screw-down crowns) to ensure water resistance.

The watch will then continue to operate, powered by the motion of your wrist.

2. Setting the Time and Date

  1. Unscrew the crown (if applicable) and pull it out to position 2 (the first click for date setting).
  2. Turn the crown to set the date. Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this can damage the movement. If the time falls within this period, first adjust the time outside this range, then set the date, and finally reset the time.
  3. Pull the crown out to position 3 (the second click for time setting). The second hand will stop.
  4. Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hands. To ensure accuracy, set the minute hand a few minutes ahead of the desired time, then turn it back to the exact time.
  5. Push the crown back into position 1 (and screw it down if applicable) to start the watch.

3. Band Adjustment

The stainless steel bracelet of your watch can be adjusted for a comfortable fit. It is highly recommended to have this adjustment performed by a qualified watch technician or an authorized SEIKO service center to prevent damage to the band or clasp.

Operating Your Watch

Automatic Movement

The SRPK01 features a Japanese automatic movement, which means it is powered by the natural motion of your wrist. When worn regularly, the watch will continuously wind itself, eliminating the need for batteries. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it may stop. Simply follow the initial winding procedure to restart it.

Water Resistance (200m Diver's)

Your SRPK01 is a diver's watch, certified for water resistance up to 200 meters (660 feet). This means it is suitable for scuba diving and other high-impact water sports.

  • Important: Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before exposing the watch to water.
  • Do not operate the crown or pushers (if any) while the watch is submerged in water.
  • After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch thoroughly with fresh water and dry it with a soft cloth.

Luminous Hands and Markers

The hands and markers on your SRPK01 watch are coated with a luminous material, providing visibility in low-light conditions. Exposure to light will charge the luminous material, allowing it to glow in the dark.

Maintenance

Cleaning Your Watch

To maintain the appearance and longevity of your watch:

  • Wipe the case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth regularly.
  • For the stainless steel band, use a soft brush and soapy water to clean dirt from the links, then rinse thoroughly with fresh water and dry completely.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the watch's finish.

Water Resistance Checks and Servicing

The gaskets that ensure your watch's water resistance can degrade over time. It is recommended to have your watch's water resistance checked by an authorized SEIKO service center every 2-3 years, especially if you frequently use it in water. Regular servicing of the automatic movement is also advised to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.

Storage

When not wearing your watch for an extended period, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong magnetic fields. A watch winder can be used to keep the automatic movement running if you wish to avoid resetting the time and date after periods of inactivity.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch Has Stopped: If your automatic watch has stopped, it likely needs to be wound. Manually wind the watch by turning the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times, then wear it regularly. If it still does not operate, it may require servicing.
  • Incorrect Time/Date: Refer to the "Setting the Time and Date" section under Setup. Ensure the crown is fully pulled out to the correct position for setting. If the issue persists, the movement may need inspection.
  • Condensation Inside Crystal: Small amounts of condensation that disappear quickly are usually not a concern. However, if large droplets or persistent fogging appear under the crystal, this indicates a loss of water resistance. Immediately take the watch to an authorized service center to prevent further damage to the movement.
  • Bracelet Discomfort: If the stainless steel bracelet is too tight or too loose, it may need adjustment. Visit an authorized SEIKO dealer or watch technician for proper resizing.
