2. Setting the Time

  1. Unscrew the Crown: Locate the crown on the right side of the watch case. Gently unscrew it counter-clockwise until it springs out to position 1.
  2. Pull to Position 2: Carefully pull the crown out further to position 2. The second hand will stop.
  3. Set Time: Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time.
  4. Push and Screw Down: Once the time is set, push the crown back into position 1 and then screw it clockwise firmly against the case to ensure water resistance.

Note: Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down to maintain the watch's water resistance rating.

3. Changing the Strap

Your watch comes with two interchangeable straps: a stainless steel bracelet and a silicone strap. To change the strap:

  1. Prepare: Place the watch face down on a soft cloth to prevent scratches.
  2. Remove Current Strap: Use the provided strap changing tool to depress the spring bar on one side of the strap, then gently pull the strap away from the lug. Repeat for the other side and the other half of the strap.
  3. Attach New Strap: Insert one end of the spring bar into the lug hole. Using the tool, depress the other end of the spring bar and guide it into the opposite lug hole. Ensure the strap is securely fastened by gently pulling on it.

Operating the Watch

Timekeeping

Your Nautica NAPKMF307 watch is a quartz movement timepiece, providing accurate timekeeping. The watch displays hours, minutes, and seconds via three central hands.

Water Resistance (100m / 330ft)

This watch is water-resistant to 100 meters (330 feet). This rating makes it suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and recreational diving. However, it is not suitable for scuba diving or high-impact water sports.

  • Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before any contact with water.
  • Do not operate the crown or pushers (if any) while the watch is wet or submerged.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature changes, such as moving from a hot sauna directly into cold water, as this can compromise seals.

Maintenance

Cleaning Your Watch

  • Case and Bracelet: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. For stainless steel, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by rinsing with clean water and drying thoroughly.
  • Silicone Strap: Wash with mild soap and water, then rinse and dry completely.
  • Avoid Chemicals: Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the watch's finish or seals.

Battery Replacement

The watch is powered by a quartz movement, which requires a battery. The typical battery life is 2-3 years. When the battery needs replacement, it is highly recommended to take your watch to an authorized service center or a reputable watchmaker. This ensures proper battery installation and re-sealing of the case to maintain water resistance.

Water Resistance Checks

Over time, the gaskets that ensure water resistance can degrade. It is recommended to have your watch's water resistance checked by an authorized service center every 2-3 years, especially if you frequently expose it to water.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Running:
    • Check if the crown is fully pushed in and screwed down.
    • The battery may be depleted. Refer to the "Battery Replacement" section.
  • Time Inaccuracy:
    • Ensure the time was set correctly and the crown is fully screwed down.
    • Extreme temperatures or strong magnetic fields can affect quartz accuracy.
    • If inaccuracy persists, the battery may be low, or the movement may require servicing.
  • Condensation Under Crystal:
    • This indicates a loss of water resistance. Immediately take the watch to an authorized service center to prevent further damage.
