Figure 1: Overall dimensions of the HOMERECOMMEND Model 928 metal bunk bed frame. The frame measures approximately 78.74 inches in length, 41.53 inches in width, and 61.42 inches in height. The clearance between the lower and upper bunk is 38.78 inches, and the under-bed clearance is 8.86 inches.

  1. Unpack and Identify Parts: Carefully unpack all components from the packaging. Refer to the included parts list (not provided in this manual, typically found in the box) to identify each piece. Ensure all hardware is present.
  2. Assemble Base Frames: Begin by assembling the two main rectangular base frames for both the upper and lower bunks. Connect the side rails to the headboard and footboard sections using the provided bolts and Allen wrench. Do not fully tighten bolts until all sections are aligned.
  3. Install Support Slats: Once the base frames are partially assembled, insert the metal support slats into their designated slots or attach them using the provided fasteners. Ensure slats are evenly spaced and securely fastened to provide adequate mattress support.
  4. Connect Bunk Sections: Carefully lift the upper bunk frame and align it with the support posts of the lower bunk frame. Securely attach the upper bunk to the lower bunk using the longer bolts and nuts. Ensure all connections are stable.
  5. Attach Ladder: The integrated ladder should be attached to the side of the bed frame. Secure it firmly with the provided hardware, ensuring it is stable and safe for climbing.
  6. Final Tightening: Once all components are in place and aligned, systematically go through and fully tighten all bolts and screws. Do not overtighten.

Operating Instructions

This bed frame is designed for use with standard mattresses. No box spring is required due to the integrated slat support system.

  • Mattress Placement: Place your mattresses directly onto the metal slats. Ensure the mattress fits snugly within the frame to prevent shifting.
  • Weight Capacity: Adhere to the maximum weight recommendations for each bunk. Exceeding these limits can compromise the structural integrity and safety of the bed frame.
  • Squeak Resistant Design: The frame is engineered to minimize noise. If squeaking occurs, refer to the troubleshooting section.
  • Ladder Use: Always use the integrated ladder to access the upper bunk. Do not jump on or off the upper bunk.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the metal frame with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the finish.
  • Fastener Check: Periodically (e.g., every 3-6 months) check all bolts, screws, and connections to ensure they are tight. Re-tighten any loose fasteners to maintain stability and prevent squeaking.
  • Inspection: Inspect the frame for any signs of wear, damage, or bending. If any damage is found, discontinue use and contact customer support.
