Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper cleaning of the die is essential for hygiene and to ensure its longevity.

  1. Unplug Machine: Always unplug the pasta machine before cleaning.
  2. Remove Die: Carefully remove the Orecchiette die from the pasta machine.
  3. Initial Cleaning: Allow any residual pasta dough on the die to dry slightly. This makes it easier to remove. Use a small brush or toothpick to gently clear out any dough stuck in the slots or crevices.
  4. Hand Wash Only: Wash the die by hand using warm water and a mild dish soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can damage the plastic.
  5. Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse the die thoroughly under running water to remove all soap residue.
  6. Dry Completely: Dry the die completely with a soft cloth or allow it to air dry before storing. Ensure no moisture remains to prevent bacterial growth.
  7. Storage: Store the clean, dry die in a safe place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Important: This die is not dishwasher safe. High temperatures and harsh detergents in dishwashers can deform or damage the POM plastic.
