Setup and Installation
Follow these general steps to replace the chain on your EGO pole saw. Refer to your pole saw's specific manual for detailed instructions.
- Prepare the Pole Saw: Ensure the pole saw is turned off and the battery is removed to prevent accidental startup. Place the pole saw on a stable, flat surface.
- Remove the Old Chain: Loosen the bar nuts or tensioning knob that secure the guide bar and chain cover. Carefully remove the chain cover. Remove the old chain from the guide bar and sprocket.
- Inspect Components: Check the guide bar for wear or damage. Ensure the sprocket is clean and free of debris.
- Install the New Chain:
- Carefully uncoil the new Opuladuo chain.
- Place the chain around the sprocket and then guide it into the groove of the guide bar.
- Crucial Step: Ensure the cutting teeth are facing the correct direction. The sharp edge of the cutters should face forward, towards the tip of the guide bar, in the direction of chain rotation. Incorrect installation will result in poor cutting performance.
- Reattach Cover and Tension: Replace the chain cover and loosely tighten the bar nuts. Adjust the chain tension according to your pole saw's manual. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled freely by hand. It should not sag underneath the bar.
- Final Check: Once tensioned, fully tighten the bar nuts. Reinstall the battery and perform a brief test run in a safe area to ensure proper operation and tension.

Operating Instructions
After successful installation and tensioning of the new chain, operate your pole saw according to the manufacturer's guidelines. Always ensure the chain is adequately lubricated by the pole saw's oiling system during operation. Avoid forcing the saw; let the chain do the work.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance extends the life of your chain and ensures optimal cutting performance.
- Sharpening: Chains will dull with use. Sharpen the chain regularly using appropriate sharpening tools and techniques. A sharp chain cuts efficiently and reduces strain on the pole saw motor.
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the chain and guide bar to remove sap, sawdust, and debris. This prevents buildup and corrosion.
- Lubrication: Ensure your pole saw's automatic oiler is functioning correctly and that the oil reservoir is filled with appropriate bar and chain oil.
- Storage: When not in use, store the chain in a clean, dry place. The included plastic case (Figure 5) is suitable for storage.
