Setup
1. Initial Winding
As an automatic watch, the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 is powered by the motion of your wrist. However, for initial setup or after a period of inactivity, it is recommended to manually wind the watch. To do this, unscrew the crown (if applicable) and turn it clockwise approximately 20-30 times. This will build up a sufficient power reserve to start the movement.
2. Setting the Time
- Pull the crown out to the furthest position (position 3). The second hand will stop.
- Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the hour and minute hands to the desired time. To avoid confusion between AM and PM, advance the hands past 12 o'clock to see if the date changes. If it does, you are in the AM cycle.
- Push the crown back into its normal operating position (position 1). The second hand will resume movement.
3. Setting the Date
- Pull the crown out to the intermediate position (position 2).
- Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this is when the date change mechanism is engaged and could be damaged. If the current time falls within this window, first set the time outside this window, then set the date, and finally reset the correct time.
- Push the crown back into its normal operating position (position 1).

4. Bracelet Adjustment
The stainless steel bracelet features an interchangeable quick-release system and a butterfly clasp. For proper fit, the bracelet may need to be adjusted by adding or removing links. It is highly recommended to have this adjustment performed by an authorized Tissot retailer or a professional watchmaker to prevent damage to the bracelet or clasp.
Operating Your Watch
Automatic Movement (Powermatic 80)
Your Tissot PRX is equipped with a Swiss automatic movement, the Powermatic 80, which boasts an impressive 80-hour power reserve. This movement is self-winding, meaning it gains power from the natural motion of your wrist. When worn daily, the watch should remain wound. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it will stop. Simply manually wind it as described in the "Initial Winding" section to restart it.

Water Resistance
This watch is water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 meters / 330 feet). This makes it suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering. However, it is not suitable for diving, snorkeling, or high-impact water sports. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in and, if applicable, screwed down before any contact with water. Avoid operating the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged.
Maintenance
Cleaning
To maintain the appearance of your watch, clean the case and metal bracelet regularly with a soft, damp cloth. For water-resistant models, you can use a soft brush and soapy water, then rinse thoroughly with fresh water and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, which can damage the watch's finish.
Service Intervals
Like any precision instrument, your Tissot watch requires periodic servicing to ensure optimal performance and longevity. It is recommended to have your watch serviced by an authorized Tissot service center every 3 to 5 years. Regular servicing includes cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment of the movement, as well as checking the water resistance seals.
Storage
When not wearing your watch for an extended period, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields. The original watch box provides excellent protection.
Troubleshooting
- Watch Not Running: If the watch has stopped, it may simply need to be wound. Manually wind the watch by turning the crown clockwise 20-30 times. If it still does not start or stops shortly after, it may require professional inspection.
- Inaccurate Time: Minor variations in timekeeping are normal for mechanical watches. However, if your watch is consistently gaining or losing a significant amount of time, it could be due to magnetism or require regulation. Keep your watch away from strong magnetic fields (e.g., speakers, refrigerators, certain electronic devices). If the issue persists, contact an authorized service center.
- Condensation Under Crystal: If you notice condensation or moisture under the sapphire crystal, this indicates a breach in the watch's water resistance. Immediately take the watch to an authorized Tissot service center to prevent further damage to the movement.
- Date Not Changing: Ensure the time is not set between 9 PM and 3 AM when attempting to quick-set the date. If the date mechanism appears stuck or damaged, seek professional assistance.
