  • Ensure the ground sleeve is securely installed to prevent the flagpole from leaning or falling.
  • Do not attempt to install the flagpole during strong winds or adverse weather conditions.
  • Regularly inspect all components for wear or damage. Replace any damaged parts immediately.

5. Setup and Installation

5.1. Ground Sleeve Installation

  1. Select a suitable location for your flagpole, ensuring it is clear of obstacles and underground utilities.
  2. Dig a hole that is at least 1.7 feet deep and at least 3 times the diameter of the flagpole. This ensures proper stability.
  3. Place the provided PVC ground sleeve into the hole. Ensure it is level and plumb.
  4. Fill the hole with concrete or compacted soil around the ground sleeve to secure it firmly in place. Allow adequate time for concrete to cure if used.

  2. To lower the flag, untie the halyard from the cleat and slowly release the rope, allowing the flag to descend.

6.2. Adjusting Flag Height

The sectional design allows for adjustment of the overall flagpole height by removing or adding sections. Ensure the flagpole is fully lowered and disassembled before attempting to adjust its height.

7. Maintenance

  • Regular Cleaning: Use mild soapy water and a soft brush to clean the flagpole surface. Rinse with water after cleaning.
  • Anti-Rust Treatment: Apply non-corrosive rust inhibitor after cleaning to prevent oxidation on the aluminum pole.
  • Check Screws and Accessories: Periodically inspect and ensure tight fastening of screws and fittings on the flagpole.

11. Flag Etiquette

Proper display of the U.S. flag is a sign of respect and patriotism. Here are some general guidelines:

  • The flag should be displayed from sunrise to sunset on buildings and stationary flagstaffs in the open. When a patriotic effect is desired, the flag may be displayed 24 hours a day if properly illuminated during hours of darkness.
  • The flag should not be displayed during inclement weather, except when an all-weather flag is used.
  • When the flag is lowered, it should be done ceremoniously.
  • The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, floor, water, or merchandise.
  • When a flag is so worn that it is no longer fit for display, it should be retired in a dignified manner, preferably by burning.
