4. Setup and Adjustments
Blade Installation:
- Ensure the saw is unplugged from the power source.
- Locate the blade arbor lock button and press it to secure the arbor.
- Use the provided wrench to loosen the arbor nut.
- Carefully remove the old blade (if applicable) and install the new 7-1/4 inch blade with the teeth pointing in the direction of rotation indicated on the saw.
- Tighten the arbor nut securely while holding the arbor lock button.
Depth Adjustment:
The depth gauge stop allows you to control the plunge depth. Loosen the depth adjustment knob, set the desired cutting depth using the scale, and then tighten the knob to secure the setting.
Bevel Angle Adjustment:
To make angled cuts, loosen the bevel adjustment knobs. Tilt the saw base to the desired angle between 0 and 45 degrees, then tighten the knobs to lock the angle.

Initial Splinter Guard Cut (for new tracks):
When using a new track, it is necessary to make an initial cut to trim the splinter guard strip to match your saw's blade.
- Place the track on a sacrificial piece of material (e.g., scrap wood or foam board) that is longer than the track.
- Ensure the track is fully supported along its length.
- Set the saw's depth to the scoring position, just deep enough to cut through the splinter guard.
- Place the saw on the track, ensuring the base engages the track's grooves. Adjust the fine-adjustment cams on the saw base to eliminate any play, ensuring the saw runs straight and true on the track.
- Engage the motor and slowly plunge the saw, guiding it along the entire length of the track to trim the splinter guard.
- Once trimmed, the edge of the splinter guard will precisely indicate your cut line.
5. Operating Instructions
Using the Track Saw:
- Prepare Workpiece: Place the material to be cut on a stable, level surface. Ensure there is clearance beneath the cut line to avoid cutting into your workbench.
- Position Track: Lay the track (not included) along the desired cut line. The trimmed splinter guard on the track will serve as your exact guide.
- Secure Track: Use track clamps (not included) to firmly secure the track to the workpiece to prevent movement during the cut.
- Set Depth and Bevel: Adjust the cutting depth and bevel angle as required for your project (refer to Section 4).
- Connect Dust Collection: Attach a dust collection device to the 360-degree swiveling dust port for a cleaner work environment.
- Set Variable Speed: Rotate the variable speed dial to your preferred RPM (2000-6000) based on the material being cut. Higher speeds are generally for softer materials, lower for harder materials.
- Start Cut: Place the saw on the track, ensuring the base is properly seated in the track's grooves. Hold the saw firmly with both hands. Engage the power switch and allow the blade to reach full speed before plunging into the material.
- Plunge and Guide: Slowly plunge the blade into the material and guide the saw smoothly along the track. Maintain a consistent feed rate. Do not force the saw.
- Complete Cut: Continue guiding the saw until the cut is complete. Release the power switch and allow the blade to stop completely before lifting the saw from the workpiece.

Operating as a Plunge Saw (without track):
The saw can also be used as a standalone plunge saw for cuts where a track is not required or practical. The flat base provides stability. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and use a straight edge guide if precise straight cuts are needed without the track.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your WEN Track Saw. Always unplug the tool before performing any maintenance.
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the saw thoroughly. Remove sawdust and debris from the motor vents, blade guard, and base. Use a soft brush or compressed air. Do not use solvents that could damage plastic parts.
- Blade Inspection: Regularly inspect the blade for sharpness, cracks, or missing teeth. A dull or damaged blade can cause kickback and poor cut quality. Replace blades as needed.
- Cord Inspection: Check the power cord for any signs of damage, cuts, or fraying. If damaged, have it repaired by a qualified technician.
- Lubrication: This tool is designed for maintenance-free operation regarding lubrication. Do not lubricate internal components.
- Storage: Store the saw in a clean, dry place, out of reach of children.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your WEN Track Saw, refer to the following common problems and solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Saw does not start. | No power supply; faulty switch; tripped circuit breaker. | Check power cord connection; ensure outlet is live; reset circuit breaker; contact service if switch is faulty. |
| Blade binds or cuts slowly. | Dull or dirty blade; incorrect blade for material; improper feed rate; workpiece not secured. | Replace or clean blade; use appropriate blade; reduce feed rate; secure workpiece firmly. |
| Excessive vibration or noise. | Loose blade; damaged blade; worn bearings. | Check blade for tightness; replace damaged blade; contact service for bearing issues. |
| Poor cut quality (rough edges, tear-out). | Dull blade; incorrect blade for material; improper feed rate; splinter guard not properly trimmed. | Replace or sharpen blade; use fine-tooth blade for clean cuts; adjust feed rate; re-trim splinter guard. |
| Saw not tracking straight. | Track not secured; saw not properly adjusted on track; damaged track. | Ensure track is clamped; adjust fine-adjustment cams on saw base; inspect track for damage. |
