1. Important Safety Information

Before operating the PARKSIDE PRTA 20-Li Cordless Grass Trimmer, please read and understand all safety warnings and instructions provided in this manual. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

WARNING:

• Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including eye protection, hearing protection, long pants, and sturdy footwear when operating the trimmer.
• Be aware of flying debris. Keep bystanders, children, and pets at a safe distance (at least 15 meters / 50 feet) from the operating area.
• Inspect the work area for objects such as rocks, broken glass, wires, or other debris that could be thrown or become entangled in the cutting line. Remove any such objects before starting.
• Do not operate the trimmer in wet conditions or in the rain.
• Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly inserted before use. Remove the battery pack when not in use, before cleaning, or when performing maintenance.
• Never modify the trimmer or use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer.
• Always hold the trimmer firmly with both hands during operation.

2. Product Overview

The PARKSIDE PRTA 20-Li is a cordless grass trimmer designed for cutting grass and light weeds in gardens and around obstacles. It features a rotating trimmer head, automatic line readjustment, and a telescopic guide for user comfort.

3. Assembly and Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts listed in the package contents are present and undamaged. Keep packaging materials for future storage or disposal.

3.2 Attaching the Protective Guard

Align the protective guard with the trimmer head and secure it according to the instructions. This guard is essential for user safety and to prevent debris from being thrown.

3.3 Installing the Spool

The trimmer comes with two line spools: one pre-assembled and one spare. To install or replace a spool, ensure the battery is removed. Follow the tool-free spool change mechanism.

3.4 Adjusting the Handles and Telescopic Guide

Adjust the telescopic guide to a comfortable height for your body. The length can be adjusted by approximately 23 cm. The second handle can also be adjusted for optimal balance and control during operation.

3.5 Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the 20V Li-Ion battery using the provided charger. Connect the charger to a power outlet and insert the battery. The charger's indicator lights will show the charging status. Do not overcharge the battery.

3.6 Inserting the Battery

Once charged, slide the battery pack into the battery compartment on the trimmer until it clicks securely into place. Ensure it is firmly seated before operation.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Starting and Stopping the Trimmer

1. Ensure all safety precautions are observed and PPE is worn.
2. Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands.
3. To start, press the safety switch and then squeeze the trigger switch.
4. To stop, release the trigger switch.

4.2 Trimming Techniques

For best results, use a sweeping motion, moving the trimmer from side to side. Avoid hitting hard surfaces or obstacles to prevent damage to the cutting line and the trimmer.

4.3 Edge Cutting Function

The trimmer head can be rotated to 90° or 180° for precise edge cutting along pathways or flowerbeds. Utilize the spacer roller for consistent results.

4.4 Plant Protection Bracket

The foldable plant protection bracket helps prevent damage to delicate plants, trees, and garden features while trimming close to them.

5. Maintenance and Care

5.1 Cleaning

After each use, remove the battery and clean the trimmer. Use a damp cloth to wipe down the exterior. Remove any grass clippings or debris from the protective guard and trimmer head. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

5.2 Replacing the Cutting Line Spool

When the cutting line becomes too short or breaks, replace the spool. The PRTA 20-Li features a tool-free spool change mechanism. Refer to section 3.3 for detailed instructions.

5.3 Battery Care

• Store the battery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Do not store the battery in a discharged state for extended periods. Charge it periodically if not in use.
• Only use the charger supplied with the product or a compatible PARKSIDE X20V Team charger.

5.4 Storage

Store the trimmer in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children. Remove the battery before storing for extended periods.
