5. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the balance and all accessories from the packaging.
  2. Placement: Place the balance on a firm, level, and vibration-free surface. Ensure it is away from air currents (e.g., vents, open windows) and direct heat sources.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the provided power adapter to the balance and plug it into a suitable power outlet. The balance can also operate on its internal rechargeable lithium battery.
  4. Warm-up: Allow the balance to warm up for at least 15-30 minutes after connecting to power before performing any measurements. This ensures optimal accuracy and stability.
  5. Leveling: Adjust the leveling feet at the bottom of the balance until the bubble in the spirit level (usually located on the front or side) is centered.

6. Operation

6.1. Basic Weighing

  1. Turn on the balance by pressing the ON/OFF button.
  2. Wait for the display to show "0.000g" and stabilize.
  3. If using a container, place the empty container on the weighing pan. Press the TARE button to zero the display.
  4. Carefully place the item to be weighed into the container or directly onto the weighing pan.
  5. Read the stable weight displayed on the screen.

6.2. Calibration

The balance is multi-point calibrated before shipping. For optimal accuracy, periodic calibration is recommended.

  1. Ensure the weighing pan is empty and the balance is stable.
  2. Press and hold the CAL button until "CAL" appears on the display.
  3. The display will then show the required calibration weight (e.g., "200g").
  4. Carefully place the included 200g calibration weight onto the center of the weighing pan.
  5. The balance will automatically calibrate. Once complete, it will return to normal weighing mode, displaying "0.000g".
  6. Remove the calibration weight.

6.3. Unit Selection and Customization

The balance supports 17 different weighing units. You can cycle through them or customize which units are active.

  1. Press the UNIT button to cycle through the available units (g, ct, oz, ozt, lb, kg, dr, gn, m, mm, tlJ, tlt, tlh, gsm, tmr, TAR, PKT).
  2. To customize units (turn off unused ones), refer to the advanced settings section in the full digital manual (if provided separately) or contact customer support. This feature allows for quicker unit switching by only displaying relevant units.

6.4. RS232 Interface

The RS232 interface allows for serial data exchange with external devices like computers or micro-printers.

  • Connecting to a Printer:
    1. Use a suitable RS232 cable (e.g., male RS232 to female RS232) to connect the balance to your serial printer.
    2. Adjust the scale and printer to the same baud rate (default is typically 9600 bps) and select a suitable output mode (e.g., continuous output).
  • Connecting to a Computer:
    1. Connect the balance to your PC using a USB to RS232 data cable (not included).
    2. Download and install the necessary PL2303 driver software for your operating system.
    3. Set communication parameters: Baud rate 9600 bps, Data format: 10 bits (0 as start bit, 1 as stop bit, 8 digits ASCII code). No adjustment for odd or even parity is required.
    4. Data output mode can be configured for continuous output, press output, or timing output.
