6. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper setup and installation of your pump.

6.1 Inlet Connection Methods

The pump supports two primary inlet connection methods:

  • For Water Taps: Connect directly to a pressurized water tap.
  • For Self-Priming: Connect to a water source like a pond, rain barrel, or shallow well for self-priming operation.

6.2 Priming the Pump (Before Use)

Before initial use or after the pump has been drained, it is crucial to prime the pump by filling the pump head with water. This helps to accelerate the flow rate of the inlet and ensures efficient operation.

  1. Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free. Use the provided PTFE tape on threaded connections.
  2. Locate the water filling inlet on the top of the pump head.
  3. Unscrew the cap and slowly pour clean water into the inlet until the pump head is completely full.
  4. Replace the cap securely.

7. Operation

Once the pump is properly set up and primed, you can begin operation.

  1. Ensure the inlet pipe is not excessively bent and its end is completely submerged in the water source.
  2. Connect the power cord to a grounded 115V AC outlet.
  3. Turn the waterproof On/Off switch to the 'On' position. The pump will start transferring water.
  4. Monitor the pump during operation. If the pump runs dry or overheats, the automatic thermal overload protection will activate, shutting off the pump.
  5. After use, turn the On/Off switch to the 'Off' position and disconnect the power cord.

8. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your pump.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the pump with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: If the pump will not be used frequently or for extended periods, discharge any remaining water from the pump head and hoses to prevent freezing or stagnation.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord, plug, and all connections for any signs of wear or damage.
