1. Introduction
The TENMARS TM-188D is a professional handheld meter designed for accurate measurement of various environmental parameters related to heat stress. It provides readings for Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT), Black Globe Temperature (TG), relative humidity (%RH), air temperature (TA), wet bulb (WET), and dew point (DEW). 3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully unpack the TM-188D meter and all accessories. Inspect the device for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. If any damage is found, contact your supplier immediately.
3.2 Battery Installation
The TM-188D operates on standard batteries. To install or replace batteries:
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Open the cover by sliding or unscrewing it as indicated.
- Insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.3 Connecting to Power Adapter (Optional)
For extended use or datalogging, the TM-188D can be powered via an AC adapter.
- Connect the provided AC100~240V DC9V/0.5A adapter to the power input jack on the meter.
- Plug the adapter into a suitable power outlet.

3.4 Software Installation (for Datalogging)
For datalogging and PC interface functionality, install the provided software from the installation disk.
- Insert the installation disk into your computer's CD/DVD drive.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the necessary drivers and software.
- Connect the meter to your PC using the supplied USB cable.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off
Press the POWER button to turn the meter on or off. The LCD backlight will illuminate upon power-on.
4.2 Measurement Modes
The TM-188D can measure various parameters. Use the MODE button to cycle through the available measurement displays: WBGT, TG, %RH, TA, WET, and DEW.
4.3 Temperature Unit Selection
Press the UNIT button to switch between Celsius (℃) and Fahrenheit (℉) temperature units.
4.4 Max/Min and Data Hold
- Press MAX/MIN once to display the maximum recorded value. Press again for the minimum value. Press a third time to exit Max/Min mode.
- Press HOLD to freeze the current reading on the display. Press again to release.
4.5 WBGT Alarm Setting
The WBGT alarm function allows you to set a threshold for heat stress. Refer to the detailed instructions in the full user manual for specific steps on setting and enabling the WBGT alarm.
4.6 Datalogging
The TM-188D can record up to 12,000 data points. To initiate datalogging:
- Ensure the meter is connected to the PC with the software running, or configure the sampling interval directly on the device if supported.
- Press the REC button to start recording data. The REC indicator will appear on the display.
- Press REC again to stop recording.
- To view recorded data, use the PC software or the meter's built-in data viewing function (refer to the full manual for navigation).
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Wipe the meter's casing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the sensors clean and free from dust and debris to ensure accurate readings.
5.2 Storage
When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the meter in its carrying case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
