1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your YSMN Brushless Motor Speed Controller. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper function and safety. This controller is designed for E-Bike and Scooter applications, providing steady speed and sensitive control.

2. Product Overview

The YSMN Brushless Motor Speed Controller is a robust component designed to manage the power delivery to your E-Bike or Scooter's brushless motor. Its aluminum alloy casing ensures good heat dissipation, protecting internal circuits from thermal overloading.

5. Setup and Installation

Careful wiring is essential for the correct and safe operation of the controller. Refer to the wiring diagram below and follow the instructions.

1. Motor Line Connection: Connect the three thick wires (typically green, blue, yellow) from the controller to the corresponding motor phase wires. These are labeled as "Motor line" in Figure 5.1.
2. Throttle Connection: Connect the three-wire throttle to the designated throttle input on the controller. This controller only supports three-wire throttles.
3. Brake Connections:
   • High Brake (NO.6): Connect the high brake signal wire.
   • Low Brake (NO.6): Connect the low brake signal wire.
4. Hall Sensor Connection (NO.3 Hall): Connect the Hall sensor wires from the motor to the controller.
5. Instrument Line (NO.7 Instrument line / NO.12 LCD Instrument line): Connect the instrument panel or display unit. Note that this controller does not support professional and complex LCD equipment expansion.
6. Alarm Power (NO.10 Alarm power) & Alarm Wire (NO.10 Alarm wire): Connect the alarm system if applicable.
7. Cruise (NO.8 Cruise): Connect the cruise function wire. Note that this controller has no fixed speed cruise function.
8. Study Wire (NO.4 Study wire): This wire is typically used for initial motor learning/pairing. Consult your motor's manual for specific instructions.
9. Transfer Line (NO.5 Transfer line): Connect as per your specific setup requirements.
10. Three Speed (NO.9 Three speed): Connect for multi-speed functionality if your system supports it.

Important: Ensure all connections are secure and correctly matched to avoid damage to the controller or motor. If unsure, consult a qualified technician.

6. Operating Instructions

Once the controller is correctly installed and wired, the system is ready for operation.

• Power On: Turn on the main power switch of your E-Bike or Scooter. The controller will initialize.
• Throttle Control: Use the three-wire throttle to control the motor speed. The controller provides sensitive and steady speed control.
• Braking: Engage the brakes as usual. The controller will respond to the high or low brake signals to cut power to the motor.
• Speed Modes: If connected, utilize the three-speed function (NO.9) to switch between available speed settings.

Note: This controller does not support a fixed speed cruise function. Manual throttle control is required for speed regulation.

The YSMN Brushless Motor Speed Controller is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance. However, regular checks can prolong its lifespan and ensure safe operation.

• Keep Clean: Periodically clean the exterior of the controller to prevent dust and debris buildup, which can affect heat dissipation.

• Avoid Water Exposure: While the aluminum casing offers some protection, avoid direct exposure to heavy rain or submersion in water to prevent internal damage.
• Temperature Management: Ensure the controller is mounted in a location with adequate airflow to facilitate heat dissipation, especially during prolonged use.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your YSMN Brushless Motor Speed Controller, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

• Motor Not Responding:
  • Check all power connections to ensure they are secure.
  • Verify that the motor phase wires and Hall sensor wires are correctly connected.
  • Ensure the throttle is a three-wire type and is properly connected.
  • Confirm the battery has sufficient charge.
• Intermittent Power/Speed:
  • Inspect all wiring for loose connections or damaged insulation.
  • Check for signs of overheating on the controller casing.
• Brakes Not Functioning Correctly:
  • Ensure the high and low brake signal wires are correctly connected and functioning.
• Display/Instrument Panel Issues:
  • Verify the instrument line connections.
  • Remember that this controller does not support professional and complex LCD equipment expansion. Basic displays are typically compatible.
