Setup

1. Attaching the Lens

Align the red dot on the EF-S 18-55mm lens with the red dot on the camera body. Rotate the lens clockwise until it clicks into place. Ensure the lens is securely mounted before use.

2. Inserting Battery and SD Card

Open the battery compartment cover located at the bottom of the camera. Insert the battery with the correct orientation, then close the cover. Insert the 64GB SD memory card into the designated slot until it clicks. Ensure the battery is charged using the provided charger before first use.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

To power on the camera, rotate the mode dial to any setting other than "OFF". To power off, rotate the mode dial to "OFF".

2. Mode Dial Overview

The mode dial on the top of the camera allows you to select various shooting modes:

  • Scene Intelligent Auto (green square icon): Fully automatic mode for simple point-and-shoot operation.
  • Program AE (P): Camera sets aperture and shutter speed, but you can adjust other settings.
  • Shutter-priority AE (Tv): You set the shutter speed, camera sets aperture.
  • Aperture-priority AE (Av): You set the aperture, camera sets shutter speed.
  • Manual Exposure (M): You set both aperture and shutter speed.
  • Creative Auto (CA): Simplified manual control with easy-to-understand options.
  • Scene Modes: Specific modes for portraits, landscapes, close-ups, sports, etc.
  • Movie Shooting Mode (video camera icon): For recording videos.

3. Focusing

The EF-S 18-55mm lens supports both autofocus (AF) and manual focus (MF). Use the AF/MF switch on the lens barrel to select your desired focus method. In AF mode, the camera will automatically focus when you half-press the shutter button. In MF mode, rotate the focus ring on the lens to adjust focus manually.

4. Taking Photos

After selecting your desired mode and focus, compose your shot using either the optical viewfinder or the LCD screen. Half-press the shutter button to focus, then fully press it to capture the image. The camera supports up to 3 frames per second (fps) continuous shooting.

5. Wi-Fi Connectivity

The Canon EOS Rebel T100 features Wi-Fi connectivity. You can instantly transfer photos and movies to your smart device for easy sharing on social media or cloud backup. Additionally, you can shoot remotely using the Canon Connect app (downloadable for Android and iOS).

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your camera:

  • Keep the lens and sensor clean using the provided lens cleaning cloth or specialized camera cleaning kits.
  • Store the camera in a dry, dust-free environment, preferably in a camera bag.
