Setup
1. Attaching/Removing the Battery
To attach the V20 5.0Ah Lithium Battery, align the battery with the tool's receptacle and slide it in until it clicks securely into place. To remove, press the release button on the battery and slide it out.

2. Adjusting the Auxiliary Handle
The auxiliary handle can be adjusted for optimal comfort and control. Loosen the knob on the handle, slide it to your desired position, and then tighten the knob firmly.
3. Loading the Trimmer Line

4. Adjusting Swath Size
The cutting swath can be adjusted between 11 inches and 13 inches to suit different trimming needs. Consult the product diagram for the adjustment mechanism.

Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off and Speed Settings
To power on the trimmer, engage the safety lock and press the trigger. The tool features high (HI) and low (LO) speed settings, allowing you to optimize power for tough weeds or extend battery life for lighter tasks. Use the speed selector switch located on the handle to toggle between settings.

2. Advancing the Trimmer Line
The push-button feed mechanism allows for easy and controlled advancement of the trimmer line. Simply press the button while the trimmer is running to extend the line as needed.
3. Trimming and Edging
The CRAFTSMAN V20 RP Trimmer can be used for both string trimming and lawn edging. For trimming, hold the unit parallel to the ground. For edging, rotate the head to a vertical position and guide it along the edge of your lawn or pathways.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Unit
After each use, ensure the trimmer is powered off and the battery is removed. Use a dry cloth to wipe down the exterior of the tool, removing any grass clippings or debris from the guard and motor housing. Do not use water or cleaning solutions directly on electrical components.
2. Battery Care
Always charge the V20 5.0Ah Lithium Battery using the included V20 Lithium Charger. Store the battery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Do not store the battery in the tool for extended periods.
3. Line Replacement
When the trimmer line runs out or becomes too short, it needs to be replaced. Ensure the tool is off and the battery is removed. Follow the instructions in the setup section or refer to the product video for detailed steps on replacing the line spool. Use only 0.080-inch twist line (CMZST080) for optimal performance.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions:
- Trimmer not starting: Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly inserted. Check that the safety lock is engaged before pressing the trigger.
- Line not feeding: Verify that the line spool is correctly installed and not jammed with debris. Ensure you are pressing the push-button feed while the trimmer is running.
- Reduced power or runtime: The battery may need recharging. Ensure the battery is not old or damaged. Operating in high-speed mode or cutting through very thick vegetation will consume battery power faster.
- Excessive vibration: Check the trimmer head for any damage or imbalances. Ensure the line is properly wound and cut to the correct length.
