Setup and Installation

1. Battery Installation

The detector requires 3 AA 1.5V batteries for operation. Ensure correct polarity when inserting the batteries.

1. Twist the mounting bracket counter-clockwise to remove it from the detector unit.
2. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the detector.
3. Insert 3 AA 1.5V batteries, matching the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Mounting Location

For optimal protection, install smoke and CO detectors on every level of your home, including basements, and in every sleeping area. For smoke detection, place alarms on the ceiling or high on a wall. For CO detection, place alarms at knee level or higher, but not directly on the ceiling, as CO mixes with air. Avoid placing detectors near windows, doors, or vents where drafts could interfere with detection.

3. Mounting the Detector

1. Once the battery is installed, select a suitable mounting location.
2. Use the mounting bracket as a template to mark the positions for drilling holes on the wall or ceiling.
3. Drill two holes and insert the provided wall plugs.
4. Attach the mounting bracket to the wall/ceiling using the provided screws.
5. Align the detector with the mounting bracket and twist clockwise until it locks securely into place.

4. Wireless Interconnection

This detector supports wireless interconnection with up to 12 units. When one interconnected alarm detects danger, all linked alarms will sound, providing early warning throughout your home.

1. Ensure all units have batteries installed.
2. On the first unit, press and hold the Test/Silence button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly. This unit is now in pairing mode.
3. Within 60 seconds, press the Test/Silence button on the second unit twice quickly. The LED on the second unit will flash rapidly, indicating successful pairing.
4. Repeat step 3 for all additional units you wish to interconnect.
5. After all units are paired, press the Test/Silence button on any unit once to exit pairing mode.
6. Test the interconnection by pressing the Test/Silence button on one unit. All interconnected units should sound the alarm.

Operating Instructions

LED Indicators and LCD Display

The detector features a multi-color LED indicator and an LCD screen to provide status information.

• Green LED (Power Indicator): Flashes periodically during normal operation.
• Yellow LED (Fault Indicator): Indicates a fault or low battery condition.
• Red LED (Alarm Indicator): Flashes rapidly during an alarm condition (smoke or CO).
• LCD Display: Shows CO concentration in PPM. During normal operation, it may show "0 PPM" or remain blank until CO is detected.

Alarm Conditions and Response

The detector will sound an alarm and flash the red LED under the following conditions:

• Smoke Alarm: Loud, continuous alarm sound with rapid red LED flashes.
• Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarm: Four quick beeps followed by a pause, repeated. The red LED will flash in sync with the beeps. The LCD will display the detected CO level.

If the alarm sounds:

1. Immediately move to fresh air outdoors or open doors/windows to ventilate the area.
2. Do a head count to check that all persons are accounted for.
3. Do not re-enter the premises until the alarm has stopped and the area has been thoroughly ventilated.
4. For CO alarms, contact the fire department or a qualified technician to investigate the source of CO.

Test/Silence Button

The large Test/Silence button allows you to test the detector's functionality and temporarily silence nuisance alarms.

• Testing: Press and hold the Test/Silence button for a few seconds. The alarm will sound, and the red LED will flash. If interconnected, all linked units will also sound. Release the button to stop the test. Test your detector weekly.
• Silencing (Hush Mode): In case of a nuisance alarm (e.g., from cooking smoke), press the Test/Silence button once. The alarm will temporarily silence for approximately 5-10 minutes. The red LED will continue to flash every few seconds to indicate it is in hush mode. If the smoke/CO concentration remains high after the hush period, the alarm will reactivate.

Maintenance

Regular Testing

Test your detector at least once a week to ensure it is functioning correctly. Press and hold the Test/Silence button until the alarm sounds. If the alarm does not sound, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

Cleaning Your Detector

Dust and debris can accumulate on the detector and affect its performance. Clean your detector at least once a month.

• Gently vacuum the exterior of the detector using the soft brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner.
• Do not use cleaning solvents or sprays directly on the detector.
• Do not paint the detector.

Battery Replacement

The detector will chirp and the yellow LED will flash to indicate a low battery. Replace the batteries immediately when this occurs.

1. Twist the detector counter-clockwise to remove it from the mounting bracket.
2. Open the battery compartment cover.
3. Remove the old batteries and dispose of them according to local regulations.
4. Insert new 3 AA 1.5V batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
5. Close the battery compartment cover and reattach the detector to the mounting bracket.
6. Test the detector after battery replacement.

End-of-Life Indication

The detector has a 10-year product life. After 10 years from the manufacturing date, the unit will indicate its end-of-life by chirping periodically (e.g., every 30 seconds) even with new batteries, and the yellow LED may flash. When this occurs, the entire unit must be replaced.
