3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking and Placement

  1. Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Place the paraffin bath unit on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit.

3.2 Initial Wax Loading

  1. Ensure the unit is unplugged before adding wax.
  2. Place the paraffin wax blocks directly into the basin, on top of the insulating grid. The 900g wax blocks are typically sufficient for initial use.
  3. Do not overfill the basin. The wax level should be below the maximum fill line, if indicated, or leave sufficient space to prevent overflow when dipping.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Melting the Paraffin Wax

  1. Plug the unit into a suitable electrical outlet.
  2. Turn the control knob to the HIGH setting. This setting is for melting the paraffin wax.
  3. Allow approximately 30-40 minutes for the wax to melt completely. The wax will reach a temperature of about 80°C during this phase.
  4. Once the wax is fully melted, switch the control knob to the LOW setting. This setting maintains the wax at an ideal treatment temperature of approximately 50°C.

4.2 Performing a Paraffin Treatment

  1. After the wax has melted and the unit is on the LOW setting, wait a few minutes for the temperature to stabilize to a comfortable level (around 50°C). Always test a small amount of wax on your wrist or inner forearm to ensure it is not too hot before full immersion.
  2. Ensure the area to be treated (hands, feet, or elbows) is clean and dry.
  3. Slowly dip the hand, foot, or elbow into the melted paraffin wax. Immediately withdraw it and allow the wax to solidify for a few seconds.
  4. Repeat the dipping process 3 to 5 times to build up several layers of wax.
  5. Once sufficient layers are applied, cover the treated area with the provided heat-resistant gloves or mitts to retain heat.
  6. Relax for 10-15 minutes, allowing the heat and wax to work.
  7. After the treatment, gently peel off the solidified wax. The wax should come off easily, taking dead skin cells with it.
  8. Discard the used wax. Do not reuse wax that has been peeled off the skin for hygiene reasons.

4.3 Temperature Control

The Boston Tech BE105 Plus features a simple manual control knob with two settings:

  • HIGH: Used for rapidly melting solid paraffin wax. The temperature reaches approximately 80°C.
  • LOW: Used for maintaining the melted wax at a comfortable and safe temperature for treatment, approximately 50°C. Always switch to LOW after the wax has melted.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Unit

  1. Always unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Once the wax has solidified and cooled, it can be easily removed from the basin. You may need to gently scrape the wax from the sides and bottom using a non-abrasive tool.
  3. Wipe the interior and exterior surfaces of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals.
  4. Never immerse the unit in water or other liquids.

5.2 Wax Replacement

For optimal hygiene and performance, it is recommended to replace the paraffin wax regularly, especially if used frequently or by multiple individuals. Always use paraffin wax specifically designed for paraffin baths.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Boston Tech BE105 Plus Paraffin Hand Bath, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Unit not turning on:
    • Check if the power cord is securely plugged into both the unit and a working electrical outlet.
    • Ensure the outlet is receiving power by testing it with another appliance.
  • Wax not melting or melting slowly:
    • Ensure the control knob is set to the HIGH setting for melting.
    • Allow sufficient time (30-40 minutes) for the wax to melt completely.
    • Verify that the correct voltage (220-240V) is being supplied to the unit.
  • Wax is too hot for treatment:
    • Ensure the control knob is switched to the LOW setting after the wax has melted.
    • Allow additional time for the wax to cool down to approximately 50°C on the LOW setting. Always test the temperature before use.
  • Wax is too cold for treatment:
    • Ensure the unit is on the LOW setting. If it's too cold, it might not have fully melted on HIGH first, or it has been on LOW for too long in a cold environment.
    • If the wax has solidified, switch to HIGH to remelt, then switch back to LOW for treatment.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact Boston Tech customer support for further assistance.
