WARNING: UV-C light can be harmful to skin and eyes. Never look directly at the UV-C lamp when it is operating. Ensure the unit is installed in a location where direct exposure to the UV-C light is not possible, such as inside sealed ductwork. Disconnect power before performing any maintenance or bulb replacement.

  • Always wear appropriate UV protective eyewear and gloves if direct exposure to the lamp is unavoidable during installation or maintenance.
  • Do not operate the lamp outside of the HVAC system.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Ensure proper ventilation during and after installation.
  • This device is designed for indoor use only.

4. Setup and Installation

Installation of the BAIMNOCM UV Light is designed to be straightforward, typically taking 15 minutes or less. It requires cutting holes in your ductwork and securing the unit.

4.1 Tools Required (Not Included):

  • Drill
  • Hole Saw (appropriate size for ductwork openings, typically 2 inches) or Dremel with cutting/grinding bits
  • Screwdriver
  • Measuring Tape
  • Marker
  • Safety Glasses and Gloves

4.2 Installation Steps:

  1. Power Disconnection: Before beginning, ensure the power to your HVAC system is completely turned off at the circuit breaker.
  2. Select Location: Choose a suitable location on your HVAC ductwork or furnace for installation. This should be a flat, accessible surface where the UV light can effectively treat the circulating air. Consider placing it after the air filter and before the blower for optimal purification.
  3. Mark Holes: Use the provided template to mark the two required holes on your ductwork. These holes are for the lamp holders to pass through.
  4. Cut Holes: Carefully cut the marked holes in the ductwork using a hole saw or Dremel. Ensure the holes are clean and free of sharp edges.
  5. Prepare Lamp Holders:
Four-step diagram showing how to install the UV bulb into the lamp holder: unscrew fixing ring, fix iron board, tighten fixing ring, install bulb.

Figure 4.1: Steps for installing the UV bulb into the lamp holder.

    • Unscrew the fixing ring on each lamp holder.
    • Position the iron board (mounting plate) onto the lamp holder, ensuring it sits flush.
    • Tighten the fixing ring back onto the lamp holder to secure the mounting plate.
    • Carefully install the UV bulbs into the lamp holders by screwing them in until snug. Do not overtighten.
  6. Mount Unit: Slip the lamp holders with the attached mounting plate into the cut holes in your ductwork.
  7. Secure Unit: Use the provided mounting screws to secure the unit firmly to the ductwork. Ensure a tight seal around the mounting plate to prevent air leakage.
  8. Plug In: Connect the 6 ft power cord to a standard 110V AC outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed and plugged in, the BAIMNOCM UV Light operates continuously to purify the air. The unit features an integrated switch on the power cord for easy control.

  • To Turn On: Flip the switch on the power cord to the "ON" position. The UV-C bulbs will illuminate, indicating operation.
  • To Turn Off: Flip the switch on the power cord to the "OFF" position.

For optimal air purification, it is recommended to keep the UV light operating whenever your HVAC system is running, or continuously if desired. The UV light works in conjunction with your HVAC system to treat the air as it circulates throughout your home.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and effectiveness of your UV light system.

  • Cleaning: For better performance, it is suggested to clean the UV-C bulbs three times per week. Before cleaning, always disconnect the power to the unit. Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the bulbs. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Bulb Replacement: UV-C bulbs have a finite lifespan. While the product description mentions a 9,000-hour lifespan (approximately 375 days of continuous use), actual lifespan may vary. Replace bulbs when their effectiveness diminishes or if they cease to illuminate. Always use genuine replacement bulbs from BAIMNOCM or compatible alternatives to ensure proper function and safety.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the unit and wiring for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections.
