Thermal Grizzly TG-CF-i13G
Thermal Grizzly CPU Contact Frame for Intel 13th & 14th Generation - Installation and User Manual
Model: TG-CF-i13G
Introduction
The Thermal Grizzly CPU Contact Frame is engineered to enhance the cooling performance of Intel 13th and 14th Generation processors. By optimizing the contact pressure between the CPU and the cooler, it helps to reduce CPU temperatures and improve overall system stability. This manual provides detailed instructions for installation, usage, and maintenance.
Key Features:
- Optimized Cooling Performance: Designed to improve contact pressure, enhancing CPU cooler performance and resulting in lower CPU temperatures.
- Easy Installation: Quick and straightforward installation process.
- Premium Materials: Constructed from anodized aluminum for durability and high product quality.
- Designed by der8auer: Developed in collaboration with renowned overclocker Roman "der8auer" Hartung.
- Improved Contact: Special inner contour for optimal pressure distribution, preventing concave curvature of the Integrated Heatspreader (IHS) and providing a larger contact area for efficient heat dissipation.
What's in the Box
Your Thermal Grizzly CPU Contact Frame package includes:

Installation Guide
Follow these steps carefully to install your Thermal Grizzly CPU Contact Frame. Ensure your system is powered off and disconnected from the power supply before beginning.
Step 1: Prepare the Motherboard
Place the motherboard on a flat, stable surface. Open the motherboard's Integrated Loading Mechanism (ILM) lever. The CPU should remain in its socket.

Step 2: Remove the Stock ILM
Using the provided Torx screwdriver, carefully unscrew the four screws holding the stock ILM in place. Keep these screws and the socket backplate as they may be needed for future use or warranty purposes. The CPU should remain seated in the socket during this process.

Step 3: Install the Thermal Grizzly Contact Frame
Align the Thermal Grizzly CPU Contact Frame over the CPU socket, ensuring the mounting holes on the frame align with the screw holes on the socket backplate. Place the frame carefully over the CPU.

Step 4: Secure the Contact Frame
Use the original screws (or the provided replacement screws if specified in your package) to secure the contact frame. Tighten the screws in a diagonal pattern (e.g., top-left, bottom-right, top-right, bottom-left) to apply even pressure. Tighten until snug, but do not overtighten. The goal is optimal mounting pressure, not excessive force.

Once the contact frame is securely installed, you can proceed with applying thermal paste and installing your CPU cooler as usual.
Thermal Paste Application (Optional)
For optimal thermal performance, proper application of thermal paste is essential. If you are using a Thermal Grizzly thermal paste like Duronaut, follow these guidelines:
- Clean the CPU's Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Ensure it is completely dry.
- Apply a small amount of thermal paste to the center of the IHS.
- Use a spatula or applicator to spread the paste evenly across the entire surface of the IHS. Aim for a thin, uniform layer. Avoid fast wiping motions, as slow movements help achieve better adhesion.

Operating and Maintenance
Operation:
The Thermal Grizzly CPU Contact Frame is a passive component designed to improve the physical contact between your CPU and cooler. Once installed, it continuously works to provide more even pressure distribution, which can lead to lower and more stable CPU temperatures under load. No further operational adjustments are required for the contact frame itself.
Maintenance:
The contact frame itself requires minimal maintenance. Periodically, when performing other PC maintenance (e.g., cleaning dust from coolers), you may inspect the contact frame for any signs of damage or corrosion. If you decide to re-apply thermal paste or change your CPU cooler, you will need to remove the cooler and clean the CPU surface and contact frame as described in the thermal paste application section.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues after installing the Thermal Grizzly CPU Contact Frame, consider the following:
- High CPU Temperatures:
- Ensure the contact frame screws are tightened evenly and sufficiently to apply optimal pressure. Avoid overtightening.
- Verify that thermal paste was applied correctly and evenly across the CPU's IHS.
- Check that your CPU cooler is properly mounted and making full contact with the CPU's IHS.
- Confirm that your CPU cooler's fans are operating correctly and that there is adequate airflow in your PC case.
- System Instability:
- Re-check all connections and ensure no components were dislodged during installation.
- Ensure the contact frame is correctly seated and not interfering with any other motherboard components.
If problems persist, consult your motherboard's manual or seek professional assistance.
