1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your be quiet! Shadow Base 800 FX PC gaming case. Designed for optimal airflow and impressive ARGB lighting, this mid-tower case supports a wide range of components, including large radiators and E-ATX motherboards. Please read this manual thoroughly before beginning assembly to ensure proper setup and safe operation.

2. Key Features

• ARGB Lighting with Controller: Integrated ARGB lighting with a dedicated controller for extensive customization options, allowing multiple colors and modes for a personalized aesthetic.

3. Setup Guide

3.1. Unpacking and Preparation

Carefully remove the case from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. Retain all packaging materials for future transport or storage. Place the case on a stable, flat surface.

3.2. Component Installation

1. Remove Side Panels: Unscrew and remove the tempered glass side panel and the solid steel side panel to access the interior.
2. Install Motherboard: Secure your E-ATX, ATX, M-ATX, or Mini-ITX motherboard using the provided standoffs and screws. Ensure proper alignment with the I/O shield.
3. Install Power Supply (PSU): Slide your PS2 ATX power supply into the dedicated compartment at the bottom rear of the case and secure it with screws.
4. Install Storage Drives: Mount 2.5-inch SSDs or 3.5-inch HDDs into the designated drive bays. The case supports up to 8x 2.5" drives (4 included brackets) and 4x 3.5" drives (2 included cages).
5. Install Graphics Card (GPU) and Expansion Cards: Insert your graphics card and any other PCI expansion cards into the motherboard's slots and secure them with screws. The case offers 7 PCI slots.
6. Install Additional Fans/Radiators (Optional): The case supports various fan and radiator configurations. For optimal cooling, consider installing additional fans or liquid cooling radiators as needed.

3.3. Cable Management

Utilize the cable routing cutouts and tie-down points behind the motherboard tray to manage cables effectively. This improves airflow and aesthetics. Use the included cable ties or Velcro straps to secure bundles of cables.

4. Operation

4.1. Powering On

Once all components are installed and cables are connected, replace the side panels. Connect your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and power cable to the PSU. Press the power button located on the top I/O panel of the case to power on your system.

4.2. ARGB Lighting Control

The Shadow Base 800 FX features integrated ARGB lighting. The included ARGB controller allows you to cycle through various colors and lighting modes. Refer to your motherboard's manual for software-based ARGB control if your motherboard supports it, or use the dedicated button on the case's I/O panel to switch between preset effects.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning Dust Filters

To maintain optimal airflow and cooling performance, regularly clean the dust filters located on the front, top, and bottom of the case. These filters are easily removable for cleaning. Gently slide them out, clean with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner, and reinsert.

5.2. General Case Cleaning

Wipe down the exterior of the case with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the finish or tempered glass. For the interior, use compressed air to remove dust from components and hard-to-reach areas.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. No Power

• Ensure the PSU is switched on and properly connected to the wall outlet.
• Verify all power cables (24-pin ATX, CPU, GPU) are securely connected to the motherboard and components.
• Check the front panel power switch connection to the motherboard.

6.2. Fans Not Spinning / ARGB Not Lighting Up

• Confirm that the fan and ARGB cables are correctly connected to the motherboard headers or the integrated ARGB controller.
• Ensure the ARGB controller is receiving power.
• If using motherboard software for ARGB, verify the software is installed and configured correctly.

6.3. Overheating Issues

• Clean all dust filters and internal components as described in the Maintenance section.
• Ensure fans are oriented correctly for optimal airflow (intake at front/bottom, exhaust at rear/top).
• Verify CPU cooler and GPU fans are functioning properly.
