Operation
The shower drain cover features an integrated filter with two rows of pins on its underside. These pins are strategically designed to effectively catch long hair and coarse dirt, preventing them from entering and clogging your drain system. Water will flow freely through the gaps between the pins, while debris is retained on the cover for easy removal during cleaning.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure optimal drainage performance and hygiene.
- Regular Cleaning: It is recommended to regularly remove the shower drain cover by hand (as described in the Installation section). The frequency depends on usage and hair accumulation.
- Clean Filter: Once removed, clear any trapped hair and dirt from the filter pins on the underside of the cover. You can rinse it under running water or use a small brush.
- Clean Drain Area: While the cover is removed, clean the drain opening itself, including the fixing screws and any visible O-ring gaskets, to prevent soap scum or other buildup.
- Re-install: After cleaning, place the cover back into position, ensuring it is securely seated.
Cleaning Agents: Use only mild soap and water for cleaning the cover. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the chrome finish.
Troubleshooting
- Cover Does Not Fit:
- Verify the outer diameter of your existing drain cover and the spacing between the screw holes. This cover is specifically designed for Ø 112 mm covers with 81 mm hole spacing.
- Confirm your drain system is a Viega Tempoplex model from 2001-2006. This cover is not compatible with Tempoplex 1991-2001, Tempoplex 2006-now, Domoplex, or other systems.
- Slow Drainage:
- Remove the cover and thoroughly clean the integrated filter pins and the drain opening. Accumulated hair and debris are the most common cause of slow drainage.
- Ensure the cover is seated correctly and not obstructing water flow.
- Cover Appears Damaged/Discolored:
- The cover is made of chrome-plated ABS plastic. While durable, harsh cleaning chemicals or abrasive materials can damage the finish. Always use mild soap and water for cleaning.
