2.2 Pickup Selector (3-Way Toggle Switch)

The 3-way toggle switch allows you to select different pickup configurations:

  • Up Position (Rhythm): Activates the neck humbucker pickup, providing a warm, rich tone suitable for rhythm playing.
  • Middle Position: Activates both neck and bridge humbucker pickups, offering a balanced and full sound.
  • Down Position (Treble): Activates the bridge humbucker pickup, delivering a brighter, more aggressive tone ideal for lead playing and powerful riffs.

2.3 Volume Knobs

Each humbucker pickup has its own dedicated volume knob. Rotate clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it. This allows for blending the output of the two pickups when the toggle switch is in the middle position.

2.4 Tone Knob

The single tone knob adjusts the overall brightness or warmth of your sound. Rotate clockwise for a brighter tone and counter-clockwise for a warmer, darker tone.

3. Maintenance

3.1 Cleaning

Regularly wipe down your guitar with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. For the satin finish, use a cloth specifically designed for matte surfaces to avoid creating shiny spots. Clean the fretboard with a suitable fretboard cleaner and conditioner periodically to prevent drying and cracking.

3.2 String Replacement

Strings should be replaced regularly, depending on playing frequency and personal preference. Old strings can lose their tone and intonation. When replacing strings, do so one at a time to maintain neck tension. Use light gauge alloy steel strings for optimal performance.

3.3 Fret Care

The Fesley FLP350 features 22 jumbo frets. If you notice any rough edges or unevenness over time, the included sanding block can be used for minor fret polishing. For significant fret issues, professional luthier service is recommended.

4. Troubleshooting

4.1 Tuning Instability

  • Check Strings: Ensure strings are properly stretched and seated in the tuning pegs and nut. New strings often require more frequent tuning.
  • Inspect Tuners: Verify that tuning pegs are not loose. The 18:1 ratio tuners are designed for stability.
  • Nut Friction: Sometimes strings can bind in the nut slots. A small amount of graphite (from a pencil) in the nut slots can help reduce friction.

4.2 No Sound Output

  • Check Cable: Ensure the instrument cable is securely connected to both the guitar and the amplifier/interface. Try a different cable if possible.
  • Amplifier/Interface: Confirm your amplifier or audio interface is powered on and correctly configured.
  • Guitar Controls: Make sure the volume knobs on the guitar are turned up and the pickup selector is in an active position.

4.3 Fret Buzz

  • Action Height: Fret buzz can be caused by low string action. Adjust the bridge height to raise the strings.
  • Neck Relief: The neck may need a truss rod adjustment. This is a delicate procedure; if you are unsure, consult a qualified guitar technician.
  • Uneven Frets: While Fesley guitars are known for good fretwork, extreme temperature or humidity changes can sometimes cause minor fret issues. For persistent buzz, professional fret leveling may be required.
