1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the installation and maintenance of your Traxxas GTM Shock Body. These shock bodies are crafted from durable 6061-T6 aluminum with an anodized finish, designed to enhance the performance and appearance of your Traxxas TRX-4M model. They are compatible with standard GTM shock caps and pistons.

2. Package Contents

Verify that all items listed below are present in your package:

3. Installation

The GTM Shock Bodies are designed for use with the Traxxas TRX-4M model. Installation involves transferring existing shock hardware or assembling new shocks.

1. Disassembly of Existing Shocks: Carefully disassemble your existing GTM shocks, retaining all components such as shock caps, pistons, shafts, and springs.
2. Preparation: Ensure all components are clean and free from debris.
3. Assembly with New Shock Body:
   • Insert the shock shaft and piston into the new GTM aluminum shock body.
   • Attach the shock cap securely to the top of the shock body.
   • Install the spring onto the shock shaft.
   • Place the provided spring pre-load spacers as needed to adjust ride height and spring tension.
4. Fluid Filling: Fill the shock with appropriate shock oil according to your model's specifications.
5. Bleeding Air: Slowly compress and extend the shock several times to remove any trapped air bubbles.
6. Final Assembly: Securely attach the shock bottom cap.
7. Mounting: Mount the assembled shocks onto your Traxxas TRX-4M chassis.

The GTM Shock Body is a critical component of your vehicle's suspension system. • Cleaning: After each use, clean the shock bodies to remove dirt, dust, and debris. Use a soft brush or cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the anodized finish.
• Inspection: Periodically inspect the shock bodies for any signs of damage, such as dents, scratches, or cracks. Ensure all seals are intact and not leaking.
• Oil Replacement: Replace shock oil regularly according to your vehicle's maintenance schedule to maintain consistent damping performance.
• Seal Replacement: If leaks are observed, replace the shock seals promptly.
• Storage: Store your vehicle and components in a clean, dry environment away from extreme temperatures.

If you encounter issues with your GTM Shock Bodies, consider the following:

• Leaking Shocks:
  • Check if shock caps are tightened correctly.
  • Inspect O-rings and seals for wear or damage; replace if necessary.
  • Ensure the shock shaft is not bent or scratched, which can damage seals.
• Inconsistent Damping:
  • Verify that the shocks are properly filled with oil and free of air bubbles.
  • Check for correct shock oil viscosity for your operating conditions.
  • Ensure pistons are not damaged or obstructed.
• Reduced Suspension Travel:
  • Check for bent shock shafts or damaged components.
  • Ensure springs are not binding or compressed excessively by pre-load spacers.
