Setup Instructions

  1. Assemble the System:
    • Insert the adjustable light pole into the designated slot on the base unit.
    • Attach the LED grow light panel to the top of the adjustable light pole. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
    • Connect the power adapter to the system and then plug it into a standard electrical outlet (100-120V, 60Hz).
  2. Prepare Grow Pods:
    • Place one grow sponge into each grow basket.
    • Insert 1-3 seeds into the hole of each grow sponge. For optimal germination, it is recommended to soak seeds in pure water for 5-12 hours prior to planting.
    • Place a grow dome over each basket. This creates a humid environment for germination. Remove domes once seedlings emerge and touch the dome.
    • Insert the prepared grow baskets into the openings on the top of the base unit.
  3. Fill with Water and Nutrients:
    • Open the water inlet and fill the reservoir with clean water up to the 'Max' line indicated on the water level window. The system has a 6.5L capacity.
    • Add 35ml of Nutrient A and 35ml of Nutrient B to the water reservoir. Stir gently to mix.
    • Note: When refilling water next time, also add the same proportion of nutrients.
  4. Initial Power On:
    • Press the power button to turn on the system. The LED grow lights will illuminate.
    • Select the appropriate growing mode based on your plant type (Vegetables, Flowers/Fruits, or Herbs). Refer to the "Operating Instructions" section for details on modes.

Operating Instructions

LED Grow Light Operation

The system features a high-efficiency 24 Watt full-spectrum LED grow light designed to simulate natural sunlight, promoting rapid plant growth.

  • Automatic Cycle: The grow light operates on an automatic cycle of 14-16 hours on and 10-8 hours off, mimicking natural day and night cycles. This eliminates the need for daily manual intervention.
  • Adjustable Height: The light pole is adjustable up to 21 inches (53 cm) in height. As plants grow, raise the light panel to maintain an optimal distance from the plant canopy.
  • Adjustable Angle: The lamp board can be rotated up to 180 degrees, allowing for broader light coverage to the edges of your plants.

Water Pump and Recirculation System

The system includes an ultra-quiet automatic water pump (less than 20 dB) that enhances root growth by increasing oxygenation.

  • Automatic Operation: The pump automatically cycles on for 30 minutes and then off for 30 minutes to ensure consistent water circulation and oxygen delivery to the roots.
  • Water Level Monitoring: A viewing window on the front of the base unit allows you to monitor the water level. A blue water shortage indicator light will illuminate when the water level is low, prompting you to refill.

Growth Modes

The system offers three specialized growth modes to cater to different plant types:

  • Vegetables Mode: Enhances blue light to promote leafy growth, ideal for lettuce, spinach, and other leafy greens.
  • Herbs Mode: Enhances UV light to boost oil production, resulting in more aromatic and flavorful herbs like basil, mint, and cilantro.
  • Flowers/Fruits Mode: Enhances red light to encourage flowering and increase fruit yield for plants such as tomatoes, peppers, and various flowering plants.

Maintenance

Water and Nutrient Management

  • Regular Refilling: Check the water level daily using the viewing window. Refill with fresh water and appropriate nutrients when the low water indicator light illuminates or the level drops significantly. The 6.5L capacity typically provides enough water for up to 15 days, but this can vary based on plant size and growth stage.
  • Nutrient Replenishment: As plants grow, they consume nutrients. It is recommended to replenish nutrients every 1-2 weeks, or as needed, following the initial dosage ratio.
  • pH Monitoring: For optimal plant health, monitor the pH level of the water. Most plants thrive in a pH range of 5.5-6.5. Adjust pH using hydroponic pH up/down solutions if necessary.

Cleaning the System

Regular cleaning prevents algae growth and ensures a healthy environment for your plants.

  • Monthly Cleaning: Every 2-4 weeks, or when changing plant cycles, perform a thorough cleaning.
  • Drain Water: Unplug the system and drain all water from the reservoir.
  • Clean Reservoir: Use mild soap and warm water to clean the water reservoir and pump. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
  • Clean Light Pole: The light pole is detachable for easier cleaning. Wipe it down with a damp cloth.
  • Algae Prevention: Ensure grow domes are used during germination and remove them once seedlings are established. Keep the water reservoir covered as much as possible to minimize light exposure to the water, which can encourage algae growth.

Plant Care Tips

  • Root Trimming: As roots grow, they may become long and tangled. Periodically trim excess roots to prevent clogging the pump and ensure proper nutrient absorption. Be gentle to avoid damaging the plant.
  • Pruning: For taller plants like tomatoes or peppers, regular pruning is necessary to manage growth, encourage branching, and promote fruit production.
  • Pollination: For fruiting plants, manual pollination may be required. Use a small brush or gently shake the plant to transfer pollen between flowers.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Pump not working / No water circulation
  • Power not connected.
  • Pump clogged by roots or debris.
  • Pump malfunction.
  • Ensure power adapter is securely plugged in.
  • Unplug system, remove pump, clean thoroughly, and trim any roots obstructing it.
  • If pump is confirmed faulty after cleaning, contact customer support.
Lights not turning on
  • Power not connected.
  • Light panel not securely attached.
  • Light cycle is in "off" period.
  • Check power connection.
  • Ensure light panel is firmly seated on the pole.
  • Wait for the automatic "on" cycle to begin.
Slow plant growth / Wilting plants
  • Insufficient nutrients.
  • Incorrect pH level.
  • Inadequate light distance.
  • Water level too low.
  • Add recommended amount of liquid plant food.
  • Test and adjust water pH to 5.5-6.5.
  • Adjust light height to be closer to plants (but not touching).
  • Refill water to the 'Max' line.
Algae growth in reservoir/on sponges
  • Excessive light exposure to water.
  • Infrequent cleaning.
  • Ensure grow domes are used for seedlings and remove once plants are large enough to cover the openings.
  • Perform regular cleaning of the reservoir and pump.
  • Consider using opaque covers for unused pod openings.
